The shopping carts of homeless people are parked out back from the 99 Cents store in National City California. I’m seeing this from the bus stop above on Highland Avenue.
It is not easy to keep your possessions when you do not have a roof over your head. Police will take everything if your cart is from an operating store, and sometimes just throw it on the street.
The homeless problem is big now in San Diego County, as in many place in California and other states. Once you get out on the street, it is hard to get back under a roof again. Many of the San Diego homeless or veterans, many have physical or mental illness, many have lost all family ties.
It is hard to see any answer coming. The owners of these possessions are still trying.
My post today is for the weekly Show Us Your California Contest by @socalsteemit. This is one of the last photos I took when I was in that state. In days I would be off on my journey to SE Asia, but these carts have always stood out in my mind since then.
My post is also for @qurator’s PhotoFriday event.
Show us your interesting photos for either of these contests, and you can enter too. Both offer great prizes to help your STEEM account grow, so come on down!
I am a proud member of @socalsteemit. We bring Southern California to you on the STEEM blockchain. If you have a connection to this area, please join us. We would love to have you!
