I’m looking through photos of Bangkok Thailand for an upcoming post about motorcycle traffic there, and this one will most likely make the cut.
The man closest to me is a recycler coming back from a run. There is a local recycling depot a few blocks from here, so I often saw vehicles like this one. They are modified to take recycling to the center, and drive around finding it all day long. Some pick up bottles and cans, others recycle cardboard and random items people throw away.
It is common to see recycling set out separately from the trash in front of anywhere, and one of these guys will take it away for you when they pass by. A larger vehicle would have trouble in the narrow soi's (alleys) that run off this main street.
Big garbage trucks come through to main corners in the middle of the night so they do not disturb the daytime traffic. They also separate recycling as they load trucks by hand, but they can’t do it as well in the pitch dark night.
The motorcycle on the trailer must be new or special in some way. This is not something I saw often on the street.
The far motorcycle has a naked child probably in a diaper and pink helmet in the front, and a lady with a pink shirt and no helmet on the back. This is 100% common to see on Bangkok’s city streets.
With the shrine protecting my soi and the construction across the street, everything looks exactly as I remember it.
I used a Canon ELPH160 point and shoot camera for this photo.
