Do I add value to the Steem Blockchain? Personal Reflection

in #newsteem5 years ago (edited)

The question "Do I add value to the Steem Blockchain" has popped into my head over the last few days. I am trying to honestly answer this question as I reflect on what value I add to the Steem community.

This question stems from some "insecure" questions I often ask:

  • Why do only a few people interact with my posts?
  • Why are my post rewards low?
  • Is Steem really worth the time and energy?

The questions I should be asking need to be more future thinking:

  • How do I make authentic connections with more people?
  • How can I create content that people want to consume?
  • How can I maximize my limited resources (time and energy) to achieve the best results?

Value Added

Even though I struggle at times with bear market blues, I do believe that I have added value to the Steem community. And even if you disagree with that statement, you can't disagree with that Steem has added value to my life.

Here are a few ways that I believe I have added value:

  1. Content Creation - I am not so successful as a content creator that I can quit my day job yet, but I try to be authentic and real. I speak to topics in my life that are important and meaningful with the hope that other people in the same phase of life (going through the same experience) will find encouragement.
  2. Curation - I support content creators who have consistently proven their value to the community (at least from my perspective), and I am looking for new members of the community to support.
  3. Genuine, authentic relationships - I value really getting to know people. I value people who are open and honest and strive for excellence. I try to build deeper relationships in the comments sections, and I appreciate my supporters who encourage me with their comments/replies.
  4. Developing Resources - I create resources intending to help others.

Room For Improvement

But I sure can think of a lot of things I need to improve.

  1. Find my niche - Somedays, I feel that my range of topics is too broad, and as a result, I am not able to serve the people who visit my Steem blog. I want to consider decreasing the breadth of my topics and increase the depth of my topics.
  2. Don't chase every new shiny object - There is something new every day on the Steem blockchain - new people, new projects, new shiny objects. With limited time and energy, I need to make sure I stay focused on the people and things that are most important. When you try to do everything, you end up never doing anything.
  3. Improve my editing skills- If you have followed my blog, then you know I have typos and grammatical mistakes in my posts. I have a timing issue with getting my brain, eyes, and fingers synced up. I use Grammarly(affiliate link), but what I need to do is take the extra time to reread my post 2-3 times.
  4. Marketing/Networking - There are other resources and opportunities outside of Steem user interfaces where we can make connections with other people - most notable Discord channels. I am an introvert, and I struggle jumping into conversations that I was not initially apart of, but to add more value to the Steem community, I need to be willing to make my self available and known to more people.

Final Thoughts

As I reflect on these questions, I believe I am a valuable part of the community, and I am committed to being even more valuable in the future. I do not want to live in my past accomplishments. I will continue to strive for excellence in the future.

I don't know whether I have add valye to the steem blockchain or not through my contents, I just shared what I know and experience with... I join a steemmonsters community, I just help the new player through discord room.

Since I don't put attention on my payout and understand that if I didn't go engaging on other posts.. none will read my posts.. so I try my best to engage whenever Im not busy with the monsters.

Who cares about a perfect article if it's not about something interesting and familiar to their real life?

Hey @cicisaja! I agree that we need to share what we know and from our experience. When we try to write about things we don't know people see that easily.

Keep up the good work helping people int he SteemMonster discord room. We have to be authentic (real-life) or people will see that we are fake.

I think that I'm quite lucky because I live in Indonesia 😊 you know.. there are many unique things to share and I know what makes some people in the community i hang out with love to read and to know.. just like what I'd like to know from the other side of the world out there...

And from what I read on your posts.. you created such a wonderful story to enjoy, about the girls and the boy or other motivation based on what you've been through. I just don't understand about earning through steemit to support life😊

Benar sekali. Indonesia asyik banget. Orang Indonesia baik hati. Dan pengalamannya sangat luas.

Thank you for reading my post about my life. I hope we can share many more stories.

Indonesia sekarang sudah banyak berubah, orang-orangnya mulai suka menyakiti sesama bangsa sendiri. But.. the nature, the cultures are still the same.. we try hard to be a great country

Semoga sukses!

I totally resonate with that entire statement. This thing is a serious roller coaster ride! I go back and forth from having tons of support to none at all. Then you watch the price of Steem skyrocket, then drop to a few cents each.

I have come to realize that you can't do this thing expecting to get rich, or sometimes even noticed. You have to do it for the love of it! Once you do that, the other stuff doesn't matter as much, and those 'blues' kind of fade away!

It indeed has been a roller coaster ride. And guess what? We still here and exactly for the reason you mentioned. Because we love it and want to be here.

Keep pressing forward and keep Steeming!
