Wednesday Wisdom from Will - What Can We Learn from Mr Smith?

He's come a long way since uncle Phil!

The word legend is a little overused but I think it’s a fair assessment of this guy. He’s hugely successful at what he does and an inspiration, with an excellent attitude, work ethic and philosophy on life.

For most of us we first ‘met’ him through his rapping (not quite my cup of tea but he entertained an audience).

His first real breakthrough for me came with his famous role in The Fresh Prince Of Bell Air which was a classic quirky little comedy which ran in the 90′s. For those my age and a few years either side will be familiar with this show and enjoyed the exploits of Will, Carlton, Ashley, uncle Phil and Geoffrey the butler among others.

He then went from to strength to strength in some great films and a variety of roles and also has a seemingly settled personal life.

So he’s an all round good guy and gets the thumbs up here. One of the most enthusiastic people on the planet, successful at his craft and a positive, upbeat winning attitude… all done with a smile on his face.

Here’s a classic compilation of Will and his wisdom!

Great stuff. And a quote from non other than the man himself:

"The person that works the hardest wins"

Simple, effective advice… not glamorous, not rock and roll but the only way. No overnight riches but ridiculous, sickening, consistent work ethic. Bad news for some I’m sure, but fortunately it helps separate the wheat from the chaff and spells opportunity for you and I.

The only thing I’d add to that quote is to work smart. It’s all very well working ‘hard’ willy-nilly (pun intended) but if you’re not applying yourself intelligently, effectively and efficiently then you’re merely chasing your tail. Many people do work hard but have little to show for it… mainly due to the application of their resources and commonly doing it for some other sod.

Having the right attitude for the hard slog is the foundation, then add in an organised plan fused with laser focus and you’ll get there, no doubt about it.

Cheers Will, keep up the good work :)

And to paraphrase Mr Smith – don’t be afraid to die on the treadmill!
