Happy New Year!!!

in #life7 days ago

It's 2026 and I have to say that the last year flew by. We had so much going on that it's no real surprise but the year packed in so much that it will be hard to top.

I'm not sure how everybody else rang in the new year but myself and the wife went to our local for a few drinks, music and meet some of the other neighbors.

I was a nice way to do it. The music was very good but the pub wasn't overly busy. It has been the same for the past three years as well but New Years isn't the big night it used to be. I'm not bothered by it myself but we had the babysitters ready to go and it would have been a shame to waste them.

So we went for a nice dinner and then drinks after. It's been a busy xmas though so i took it handy and was very fresh today.

2026

I'm not one for new years resolutions but I do have some goals for the next few months which all revolve around getting fitter and healthier.

I got back into sport last year and it almost killed me since I hadn't done anything in a long long time so when we get going again this year I want to be in a better position.

I've already found a weekly soccer game to play with and got in a game before Christmas threw off my schedule. I will be ready to go this Tuesday however and can hopefully make every one going forward. The one game that I did play was great and it's something that I used to love playing in the past when i was in Galway and had a group to join in with.

This should be a great help with fitness as you do a lot of running for the hour.

There will hopefully be a fitness class starting in the local village soon as well. My wife goes to one on a Saturday morning in the hall which is just for women but her trainer is planning to do a men's one as well soon after Christmas.

If i can get to these two every week and mind my diet it will go a long way to building some real fitness. I'm already at a much higher starting point from the work that i did last year so hopefully will be going well by the time summer hits and the big games start again.

Diet will be the hardest part of this but my wife has signed up to a big charity cycle this year as well so we both have a good goal and should keep each other honest over the winter months.

It's too easy to make big resolutions that will never happen but we are both interested in raising our general fitness so there is a good chance of actually achieving it.

At least we started off the year in the right way with a nice 5k walk before dinner on a lovely morning.

I hope that everybody else had a good 2025 and are looking forward to the year ahead.
