RE: Funny Money

SAVE????? How dare you suggest such a thing.

There really is nothing like NOW.... is there?

Besides, Daddy always pays for all the plastic tat on vacation... right? I mean, why save till then when you can have both. Smart girl!

Back in the day, when there was no internet, in the month or two leading up to our annual beach week vacation, my parents would start letting us "earn" some beach money. Sure, in fact, they were still spending their own money, but whatever we earned, we could spend freely and then it was done on the plastic tat... or seashell and glitter encrusted boxes. Getting beach money made snapping beans and doing chores feel better. Of course after vacation, we were thinking maybe we should be paid for all those chores all the time. LOL.....Those were the days !

Sort:

We do that now! Done of the chores are ridiculous in their simplicity but it's all in the name of making them think they are earning our money!

It works better than the saving at any rate 🤣🤣

I don't know the exact rules of course, but one of my nephews that has 6 children (yes, I have kin that are crazier than me! LOL) ... they have some sort of rule that a certain percentage of anything they earn, in any way, has to be allotted to savings. The rest they can spend, but it is required to save. Their kids are always wanting to do something for you.... for MONEY of course. ha....

Oh man, 6!?!!? I thought one of my mates was insane when he had three. He blew looks like a decrepit zombie.

It's funny when they start to offer silly things. Like, I will put my diary clothes in the laundry for two pounds.

You will bloody well do that for nothing!

ha ha.... it's sometimes hard to fathom that everyone in the group has to pitch in on certain things..... when other are sometimes paid for. One has to try it tough, right?

I sometimes stop and remind myself that I am one of 5 sibs, but somehow it seems so different then and now.

My missus was one of five. The whole concept seems alien to me. Only from a parenting point of view. It would probably be cool to have a gang of siblings!
