My introduction post

Hi, everyone! My name's V (that's how you pronounce viy, clearly), and I've inadvertently become an amateur board game reviewer over the years, among other things. This account will mainly host those reviews, as that's really the only longform content I make. I also make shortform stuff that's got more memes and sedition, but that's suited to other platforms.

Here, you'll find some relatively up to date news and information about recent board game releases. Even more commonly, I'll be talking about games that came and went without much fanfare, and whether they're worth tracking down an old copy. Then, of course, everything in between, from Pandemic to Cry Havoc. I don't want to leave any stones unturned, because board games are a highly physical, personal thing. They're just out there, often gathering dust, waiting to land somewhere they'll actually be used. I want to help with that.

I may also talk about entirely unrelated things. Maybe constantly. I don't know my life.

As for who I actually am? I'm a 27 year old lesbian studying veterinary medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area. My hobbies include slowly brainwashing my friends into playing all the games I like, and being literally on fire. I'm doing great at both so far.

That's my bit. I'll follow up soon.

Hi V, welcome to Hive.

I've gone ahead and delegated you 5 Hive Power, as it looks like you didn't get any delegated with your account. I'll undelegate once you've earned 5HP on your own or if you go inactive for over a week.

I've also gone ahead and sponsored you for 1 Hive Basic Income Unit, it's not much at all but it should provide you a small amount of incentive to stick around. You can read more about HBI here.

I'd recommend you check out @felt.buzz and comment on his latest post, he'll reblog your introduction and say hello to you. There's also a good chance he will go ahead do it anyway as I've mentioned him in this comment.

You also might want to check out @themarkymark's Board Gaming community. Which sadly, is empty right now. Why not change that?

Have a nice day/night and good luck here on Hive.

Thanks! I'm really happy for the help, this place can be a little daunting, technically, but the people have all been so nice so far, you very much included, so that's already incentive to stick around 🙂

I also look forward to posting in that board gaming community - a blank canvas is a fun opportunity! I hope to do it justice.

You have a great day/night too!

I've spent some of my Ecency points to promote your post for a day, that should get it more attention.

I've also sent you 1.5 Hive which I encourage you to send to @dustsweeper, it's a bot that will make sure no votes you receive go to waste.

Hello viy, welcome on Hive. I'm relatively new here too. You will get a great support from people here.
Hope you will enjoy being here and looking forward to seeing more your post on community.
Greeting from Viet Nam💖

Welcome from HIVE Blockchain

Hi Viy!
Welcome to Hive! You've arrived at a point where the system was being upgraded (Hard Fork) and there have been a few issues. I hope you don't get too disheartened if you don't get too much attention straight away! I look forward to seeing your reviews and other posts, no doubt too.

Take care and feel free to drop in on my morning posts and share a link each time you post.

Hi! @death-and-taxes told me to talk to you about reblogging my introduction? I don't know if that's a thing you do, I'm a little confused on how all that works and I'm kinda just parroting til I get it 😅

To that last part - sharing a link to my posts, on your posts, you mean?

Regardless of technical details, very good to meet you! I look forward to interacting in the future, everyone's blogs look very interesting and I'm excited to get to know people.

Yeah, it can be tricky to redo an introduction as people might think you are trying to take advantage of the introduceyourself tag. I would advise against it.

You might want to check out @theterminal they are are great bunch of people who help new people on hive and teach them how to get the best out of it. They have have a discord server (discord is a great way to interact with people on hive, most communities have a discord server, and it really is a useful way to get to know people and build links - and get tips too).

Some of the same people (in @theterminal) are involved in @heyhaveyamet which helps introduce new people too.

And yes, feel free to visit my morning posts and share a link each time you post (or just say hi, and I'll come and check out your blog).

Have a great day!

Welcome to the Hive community @viy!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and Peaklock,
  3. The owner password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and
be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own
    .
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. Do Not open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

Have fun and happy Hiving!

Nice to meet you!

I hope this post didn't go through twice, I only intended for it to be once! Does editing the post repost it, or something? I did do an edit to add an image.
Also, yeah, I've noticed that attribution is very important here, so I've decided to dodge the bullet and only post photos I took myself! That includes the rainbow dice images - they're just a lot of my prettiest dice lying on a table.
I had to meet half way on that with my review of The Night Cage, since no physical copies of the game have been released for me to take pictures of, so I should probably edit in a source for that one image I used. Do edits repost, though? I don't want to accidentally repost.

Thanks for all the help! I'm really glad to be learning the ropes.

No, it didn't go through twice that I am aware of @viy lol!
As far as sourcing, it's simple, we attempt to get the original author, not the sharer or image hosting site; there are a number of royalty free sites like Pixabay.com and Unsplash.com, but sourcing not only puts some light on the original artist or photographer, but also sets the stage that you did not plagiarize or use anyone else's material without rights.
To answer the other question, the next few days are iffy because everything is still being worked out, and even without this HardFork going on, a lot of people have had comments accidently post twice, I think that has happened to the majority of us.
But you're good.
