I'm happy for you that there is an investment you intend to make that makes more sense to you, and I hope you benefit from it as you intend to.

Even if it doesn’t work out as intended, which does happen sometimes, at least I won’t have to talk to anyone about it 🤣

Maybe Hive needs like “B” Hive tokens, tokens that I can use to curate but don’t have a roll in downvotes and does not have proposals.

Will this idea happen? I doubt it. If anything this “idea” is easy to say but probably very hard to implement in a way that would not have unforeseen downstream consequences.

It can be difficult not to use power that is available to you. IME it's just as important to decline to use power you don't want to use as it is to use it wisely when you do. You don't have to vote on proposals. You don't have to use the DV's available to you. Nancy Reagan explained how: Just say no.

I spent a decent amount of time studying philosophy.

I believe not making a decision is a decision.

Not everyone agrees with that but that is what I believe.

As you know, I’m always welcome to be proven wrong but I’ve spent a lot of time on that particular idea and I would be surprised if you could prove me wrong on this particular idea that “not making a decision is a decision.”

I completely agree. As Rush related in the lyrics to 'Freewill', "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." But this is not the same as exerting power. If you choose not to wield power available to you, you have chosen to not wield that power. That isn't wielding that power, but is not wielding it instead. When faced with a dilemma you can choose not to act. Indeed, one of my guiding principles is 'Don't just do something, sit there.'

In construction the workers often feel they should constantly appear to be busy. There is an aphorism on such jobsites that they should 'Do something, even if it's wrong.' I don't need to appear to be busy to some boss, because I don't have a boss. I need to get jobs done well and quickly, and this requires me to consider the steps to doing so carefully, to note when I need to leave some relief for the subsequent step, or to compensate for an unsquare roof by snapping lines that are 1/8" out of alignment so that the tiny incremental difference across the length of the roof end up perfectly aligned at the peak but do not show there is a 5" difference in the length of the gables at either end.

Sometimes just doing nothing but thinking is the very best course of action you can take.

Edit: Doing something wrong costs ~3x what doing something right the first time does. When I do something wrong, first it costs me to do it wrong, then it costs me to undo what I did wrong, and then I have to redo it right. When I do something right the first time, it only costs me the one time.
