There are two major social media platforms where sharing links from low-authority accounts performs well - these are Reddit and Pinterest. To get a chance to reach a broad audience on other socials, you have to build a reputable account first. Alas, many of us don't have big Web2 accounts as we have invested all our time and energy in Hive.
With these thoughts in mind, the HivePosh team decided to launch a new initiative aiming to grow our own micro-influencers on Threads - Hive blockchain ambassadors. And the first move in this direction is the HivePosh Threads Contest.
But first I'll explain why we chose Threads.
Why Threads
- Threads is one of the top 3 fastest-growing social media platforms, with massive promotion on Instagram;
- Threads is friendly to new accounts and sometimes promotes newbies' posts to a large audience;
- Most people don't have developed accounts on Threads, so we can start together;
- Threads is easy to use - it's similar to X.
- Threads app has a huge audience.

Weekly HivePosh Threads Contest (coming!)
We hope to incentivize Hivers to build accounts on Threads through this contest. Here is how it will work: the goal is to generate as many reactions (likes, comments, reposts, and shares) as possible on your posts.

So, what to do to participate in the contest?
- Share your photography or thoughts on your Threads blog - any topic.
- You don't have to advertise Hive: the goal is to build your Threads account, not to spam with "Hive is future".
- Posts both with/without Hive links are eligible for the contest.
- But don't steal Hive content: if you post photos of another Hiver, always give a source link.
- If you want to share memes, do it. But we won't count meme posts in the contest to give a better chance to original content.
- You can mutually support your Hive mates through engagement on Threads. We'll incentivize that in the contest: a contest entry will be your 4 most popular posts and 1 most popular comment.

This contest is supposed to last for 3 months. After that we may switch to the second phase, which I will describe below.

The hardest part on Threads
Worth to know from the very beginning.
Threads is unique as they show new users' posts (without links, of course) to a huge audience if those posts are cool enough. However, many likes don't always convert into many subscribers on Threads. Look at this account:
26.8K recent views and only 60 followers.
Short answer "why": general memes, jokes, rage bait, and annoying personal confessions might generate dozens of thousands of views on Threads, but they don't benefit your blog if they don't match its niche.
We should be aware of this trap, as our main mission is to get many (real) subscribers and broad engagement.
'Hive blockchain ambassadors on Threads' program will be the 2nd phase
We can't know how well Hivers' accounts will grow on Threads. Hopefully, some will reach 1000 subscribers in 3 months. This is a beautiful 3-digit number that already means something, like, a 1/5 of a micro-influencer, lol, but we should start with something.
As soon as we reach this second phase, we'll offer new incentives to our micro-influencers to promote Hive via
- mentions in posts
- links in bio
- links in posts to specially-written articles luring people to join Hive.
To photographers
If you've ever regretted not investing effort in some web2 social network, now is your chance. You'll get first subscribers and engagement via this initiative as well as rewards and motivation through the contest.
You can post the same content to your Instagram account too, if you believe you can achieve something with original content there in 2026.
However, keep in mind: Threads is a platform built around discussion, so try to spark conversation through captions on your photos.

To skeptics
So, how utopian is the goal of producing Hive influencers on Threads?
It's a good question. We never had a coordinated program of this sort. But there are reasons for optimism: on Reddit, for example, we never incentivized or coordinated the creation of subreddits. However, this year, @blkchn created a subreddit NewsD from scratch and has reached 4.6K members so far. I started my subreddit 4 months ago, and have reached almost 3K members, with 1.6K joining in the last month.
Do we have a chance to build Threads accounts with thousands of subscribers if we incentivize, coordinate, and support each other with engagement? I believe, yes, that's quite possible. Can Hive benefit from having micro-influencers on social media? Obviously, yes. So, let's get started.
