Beautiful and Powerful Connemara Horses

Power and Beauty

Horses are amazing animals. They are so strong and proud - noble steads.

I love watching them run at full speed in a field or at a race track. There is just something about seeing them prick their ears back and gallop through the air, the sound of their hoofs hitting the ground and grass and dirt thrown up in all directions.

I don't only enjoy the sight of them running at full pelt though, I also like to observe them when they are at their calmest, relaxing with their foals or chilling out in the summer sun, as a nice cool wind blows over them. That's exactly what I enjoyed this afternoon as these horses chilled out and simply watched the world go by.

As I drove past, I simply had to stop to take a few photos and give them a rub on the head. Here are the photos I took - I hooe you enjoy looking through them.

Of Humans and Horses

As I look at these horses chilling out in the field before my very eyes, I wonder who has the right idea, the horses or us humans?

I was busy on my way to put in a hard day's graft, while the horses munched on some grass without a care in the world. Horses know nothing of stress. They have no idea what anxiety is, while many humans suffer with anxiety or stress or sometimes both. Does a horse have any bills to pay or deadlines to meet?

I'll leave you folks with that rhetorical question and share a few more photos of these majestic and strong animals.

Racehorses

Did you know that all race horses sre descendents of three ancient horses. Don't believe, then read this qoute from: https://www.progroupracing.com.au/magazine/articles/horseracing-bloodlines:

"The Dubai World Cup won by Godolphin
History states that Henry VIII, his daughter, Elizabeth 1, and then the subsequent Stewart monarchs, had over time laid down rules and regulations to govern the breeding of horses and the records of which sire mated with which mate to produce which offspring. As a result of these precise records, we are able to trace back the origins of almost every horse which has ever performed on a track, certainly from the start of the 18th Century – and these records reveal that virtually every horse carries the bloodline of three horses, named simply “the Arabians”, which arrived in England at the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century, almost 100 years before the first horses actually arrived in Australia."

"It is in this period that the arrival of these three individual “Arabians” on the racing scene set in motion events which would fundamentally impact and change the history of the sport. The new arrivals were stallions of exceptional characteristics, which their owners and importers would use to change immeasurably the bloodstock through selective breeding. Moreover, and more importantly, because breeding records and horse pedigrees were now required to be written down by law, it can be shown that every racing thoroughbred at every major centre of horse racing since this time is descended from one of these three Arabians."

These beautiful specimens are not race horses, but I found the above fascinating when I learned of it when I did a tour of Ireland's National Stud a few years back.

These are all original photos captured by me today on my Samsung Smartphone

Thanks as always for stopping by everyone.

Peace Out

They ARE famous - I've heard of them all the way Down Under! I bet @trucklife-family would love these. How beautiful.

Lately I keep seeing brown pinto ponies just like I had as a kid. Like, everywhere, it's really wierd. A sign maybe, that I should start riding again.
