Forest Walk
High pruning has recently been done in this forest near my house in Galway. This high pruning means that there is a perfect pathway for walking, so walking is what I did.
The area where this forest is located gets lots of rain, it is the West of Ireland after all. This damp moist environment means that there is lots of moss on some of the tree trunks as you can see below.
Moss Moss Everywhere
It's not just the tree trunks that are carpeted in moss either. The gaps between the trees where branches dwelled before the high pruning are an oasis of moss. It covers the ground in a rich tapestry of green as you can see below.
Look Up
We've had a nice look at the forest floor above, so now let us take a look up at the canopy. I always love taking these shots in a forest. I like the way that light passes through the random mish mash of branches.
Rugged Beauty of Conamara
It is easy to take your local area for granted, as you become so used to it. I don't do that with Galway at all. Perhaps it is because I lived away from Galway for over 15 years, so I appreciated it all the more when I got back after years away.
I'll leave ye with these shots of Windmills, Forests and Bogs.
