Wedding Anniversary
OK, so it was a little bit unorganised, truth be told.
I woke up with a start.
Bollix!!
It's our anniversary and I forgot to buy flowers for my lovely wife.
It was 6am and the shops wouldn't be opened but I slipped into my clothes anyway and ventured out to see what I could come up with in Nerja, the very town we were married near some years back.
We were on a holiday from our holiday, staying for two nights down in beautiful Nerja.
I was as quiet as a mouse and eased the front door open so as to not wake my sleeping wife and three children.
It was still dark, and there was a switch beside the door. Ah, the light. Excellent. I pressed it.
DING DONG!!!!
Ah bollix I thought, my plan was foiled and likely everyone was now awake at stupid O'Clock!
I continued with the plan anyway and after checking a few shops and a florist, non were open yet as expected.
Time to get the thinking cap on.
I knew the Nerja beaches well from my ten or so previous visits to this town and knew a few places where wild flowers grew.
Maybe I could visit these places and make a bouquet up myself?
A long shot, but worth a try.
The plan worked and I made up what I thought was a pretty nice bouquet given the circumstances.
To be honest though, the main topic of conversation when I got back was the "doorbell incident"
I'd woken up everybody, so unfortunately the flowers didn't get much appreciation, truth be told.
I tried though and I suppose that's the main thing.
We had agreed not to get gifts, as we were away on holidays and that was enough, we felt, but I still wanted to mark it somehow and when I woke early I was determined to do something.
In hindsight, maybe breakfast in bed would have been a better idea!
Well, it's the thought that counts, and if I could have another go I'd still go for the early morning freshly picked wildflowers, except I wouldn't ring that pesky doorbell.
For the women amongst ye, would ye prefer:
freshly picked wildflowers picked with care by your loved one
Shop bought flowers
No flowers
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone
Peace Out
