I was looking through some old photos recently from my collection and I happened upon this one from 2018. I really like all that is going on in this photo.
The two boys (my sons) are waiting patiently in the middle waiting for the man with the huge bubbles to cast the next bubble into the air, so that they can chase it.
The old couple seem oblivious to the bubble making and are looking elsewhere it seems, maybe spotting a restaurant for lunch or seeing some landmark. Or is she directing the bird in the sky above her head?
I really like how the bird turned out, and truth be told that was a pure accident, I was trying to capture youth and old age and that juxtaposition, and the bird just flew into shot right on cue - sometimes you get lucky.
What I love most about the shot though is the ray of light that is shining down on the man with the bubbles right beside my boys. I like to believe that this is their sister who is up in heaven keeping a watchful eye over the boys and playing with them.
It is certainly one of my favourite shots, and I must remember to get it framed some day.
