RE: Bob Marley for Three Tune Tuesday - Week 210 - win 6 HBI

in Music12 days ago

A "Best of Bob Marley" was one of my fist vinyls I had as I bought my first turntables... I think it was a present from a girl... Yeah, vinyl... long times ago... What a expensive pain it was... And when you bought a scratch tool on vinyl for 17 Euros, just because of 3, 4, 5 samples on it, you bought it twice... One to scratch it down at your home/practise, the other one for "public usage only". So you ended up at almost 40 Euros because of a few samples... And you had to put stickers on the grooves, to guide you to the needed place/groove - so a big amount of grooves weren't playable sometimes... or you say "no stickers", but had to search a long time until you found the right spot... Damn... what times...

I could praise the digital times for DJing - but on the other side, the warm sound of a vinyl with a thick needle spike for listening purposes and this niiiice crackeling sound or this loop at the end "pock, pock, pock"... this is gone... Yeah... times changed...

Wow, how interesting and insightful. Times have changed indeed, but good music is still good music. Even 48 years after Exodus was released, it sounds as fresh and relevant as ever.

but good music is still good music.

I agree. And this music is not to compare with the fast-living songs which are made just for fast consuming from all these "stars" within the last years. Most new songs will be forgotten fast. But some things will stay forever... Bob Marley, The Queen, ... things like these...

"Stars" is right

So much manufactured samey music knocking around these days
