Well, let me begin this week by thanking all of you for your patience, as you'll have noticed I took a break from the showcase for three weeks, because quite frankly it was becoming unsustainable. All in it was taking 5 to 6 hours and between work and family life, it is 5 or 6 hours I just don't have, so I am back this week, but with a slightly changed showcase. Rather than including everybody in the showcase, which often extends to more than 40, I am going to pick out the highlights for me, that may be three contributors or six contributors, but is unlikely to extend to more than ten each week. I will do my best to continue to give every entry an upvote, but I can't promise that I will get a chance to comment on them all like I was doing before.

Three Tune What now?

Right, Ok, now for the benefit of new readers, every Tuesday I pick three songs, sometimes all three from the same artist, sometimes three tunes from a particular genre, other times three songs from a certain country - you get the idea. I've always asked others to get involved and over the past few weeks, that is exactly what's happened, and we now have some ThreeTune regulars which is fantastic! The ask is to basically choose three songs to share. You can sing them or hum them or just pick three from an artist you love like I do, which is what most people do each week.

Here is a link to last week's post - at the end I said that I would pick someone who shared some decent tunes and give them a share in Hive basic income courtesy of me. Once again, we had some top-class entries and new songs for our collective ears, which is class.

Again for the benefit of new readers, are you new to Hive? Are you struggling to get support on those first posts of yours? @dbooster brings us some chilled out Japanese Jazz to start things off this week, nice and chilled and I'd highly recommend that you check out the rest of the tunes he shared. Here is one of them.

Janis Joplin - Summertime @stortebeker

Three Tune Tuesday newcomer @stortebeker knocks it out of the park with this Three Tune Tuesday mix from Janis Joplin, Joanne Shaw Taylor and Billy Strings all singing the same song Summertime. Wonderful versions, each unique and powerful. Have a listen to them all if you can.

Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows (Glastonbury 2023) @mypathtofire

@honeydue has been a long time #ttt listener and recent contributor, and I must say that she is quickly becoming one of my favourites. If you enjoy Paralysed below, then be sure to check out the other songs she picked out, they are always a little less known and always quality.

Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen @deeanndmathews

@deeanndmathews always writes well and has something to say that is worth listening to. This week she talks about men who have given their all, only to come home lost and eventually destitute. It is really quite sad, but it's a reality we must confront to help to change it. She finishes her post by saying "encourage those that you know, because you might help a wanderer find his faith, instead of the abyss!" which is great advise.

The Trying Two - Too Shy @growandbow

@growandbow brings us three tunes from his first ever band The Trying Two, and I must say they are well worth a twirl on your turntable.

Who doesn't love a bit of Afro inspired Reggae? These tunes from Stereoman are fun and something a bit different, which is always good in my book.

This first one from @stevenson7's trio this week was really uplifting and for anyone feeling a little bit low, this will be uplifting. Check out the other two shares from @stevenson7 too, they were both quality.

Blind Skeleton - Margie @wwwiebe

We are spoiled every week with @wwwiebe's songs from the 1920s and 1930s. It really is like taking a step back in time a few generations, a time before cars, planes, phones. Check out his Tuesday posts, they never disappoint.

So this was the first week of the new showcase, and I was planning on showcasing maybe 5 or 6, but the quality was just so good this week, that I could only whittle it down to 12, well done to all who feautured.

There can only be one winner though and this week it is @stevenson7. I really enjoyed the three tunes this week and the honest commentary that accompanied them.
