Here we are at week 27 and because this is the last day of the month of November, this is a special day, as I've been determined to post every day in November and this post will be my last of 30 posts this month to reach this target. Now I know some people on here who have posted every day for one year, some two years plus, but I must say that I am delighted with my own little milestone. How long will I keep the streak going? I'm not sure, but I know that it will be challenging as we get in towards Christmas time and I'm busy catching up with friends and family, so we'll just have to see how it goes.

Now, let's get back to the music and we're taking a trip down memory lane for this one, all the way back to the late 70s when these guys formed in London. I am of course talking about Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsley and Pick Withers. Collectively you'll know them as rock legends Dire Straits

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Or why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and hopefully upvote it. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music.

Here are the week twenty seven recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Dire Straits - The Sultans of Swing

Ok, so if you don't like this song, there are a few good ear doctors who I can recommend to you. I simply love the guitar riffs over and back between Mark, David and John here. Unsurprisingly this one was a hit for the band and rocked all the way to the UK charts top ten and even managed the same feat across the water in the US, which was a measure of its success. It was their first single from the album which was also called Sultans of Swing and was released one short year after the guys formed in 1977. The year was 1978 and this one would have been blaring out of many people's bedroom windows and car windows that summer. What a tune - not too many guitar riffs top it.

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms

We'll slow things right down now for Brothers in Arms. I'll share the lyrics at the end. It is the main single from their 1985 album Brothers in Arms which went on to sell more than 30 million copies worldwide. It was the first album ever to sell one million copies on CD and is still the eighth-bestselling album in UK history - a serious list to be on. All eight should be in any serious music lover's collection.

  1. Queen – Greatest Hits.
  2. ABBA – Gold Greatest Hits. ...
  3. Beatles – SGT Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. ...
  4. Adele – 21. ...
  5. Oasis – What's the Story Morning Glory. ...
  6. Michael Jackson – Thriller. ...
  7. Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon.
  8. Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms

Brothers in Arms Lyrics

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Someday you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn to be
Brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battle raged high
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell and
The moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line in your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

Dire Straits - Tunnel of Love

It could have been Walk of Life, Private Investigations or Romeo and Juliet, but I opted for Tunnel of Love in the end for the last Dire Straits tune. 7 minutes and 54 seconds of brilliance. They don't make them like this any more, they genuinely don't as songs all tend to be 2 minutes something up to 4 minutes something for a long song. Gimme almost 8 minutes of Dire Straits any day! I love this line:

"And girl, it look so pretty to me
Like it always did
Oh, like the Spanish city to me
When we were kids"

That's a wrap

That's it for another week. Those are your three songs for week twenty seven. Let me know what you think - good, bad or indifferent? Did you like them all or just one or two?

Also, as I said before, I love getting good steers for new tunes, so please tell me about the latest and greatest from your playlist below and I'll be sure to check em out.

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Peace Out

Absolute quality but I'd have swapped Brothers in Arms for Telegraph Road! I just didn't take to Brothers in Arms the album but the title track is sublime, especially as whenever I hear it, I can see Crockett racing his Ferrari around the desolate, darkened streets of Miami!
