Bernard Fanning - Three Tune Tuesday - Song Recommendations Week 25 🗣🎶

We spent around 16 months traveling around Australia and Sout East Asia in our mid twenties and had the time of our lives. That's how I happened upon Bernard Fanning. He is the frontman for Australian band Powderfinger. They aren't just any old band either, they are arguably Australia's biggest and most well known band. They are to Australia, what U2 is to Ireland is probably the best way to put it. They have some good songs and are worth checking out, but it was the solo work of Bernard Fanning that really caught my ear back then, and particularly the album Tea and Sympathy.

He has gone onto have three more solo studio albums since, but I must confess I am not as familiar with these albums, as I must admit I kind of forgot about him after we got home to Ireland. Sometimes I think our love of a song or an album is nostalgic and it temporarily transports us through years or decades to a different place and time. So with that philosophical thought, let us embark on week 25...

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Or why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and hopefully upvote it. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music.

Here are the week twenty five recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Bernard Fanning - Songbird

Right so I've actually gone with all three songs from Tea and Sympathy. Nostalgia 1 - Fairness 0.

Oh well.... Here's the first pick.

Bernard Fanning - The Strangest Thing

Pick number two and another little beauty of a song, as they might say in Australia. Fair dinkum.
Here are the lyrics to go with the song.

I send a kiss across the ocean blue
It's the only thing that I could think to do
If its mood is overtaking you
Send one back soon
'Cos I don't even have a photograph
So I can lose myself inside your laugh
I just pray that you'll be coming back
To mend my heart's wound
It's the strangest thing to feel this way
All that your love brings only complicates
I don't remember ever feeling this way
If I got you to thank then you be praised
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing
It started out with such a simple clue
And then we talked and so the feeling grew
I looked deep into the heart of you
It's a mesmerizing view
It's the strangest thing to feel this way
All that your love brings only complicates
I don't remember ever feeling this way
If I got you to thank then you be praised
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing
So hats off to the month of May
It? s falling leaves and its glistening days
I don't remember ever feeling this way
If I got you to thank then you'll be praised
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing
It's the strangest thing

Bernard Fanning - Wish You Well

Listening to a Bernard Fanning songs conjurs up images of beach huts in Thailand, late night bon fires on Don Det Island on the Mekong River, Tubing down rivers in Northern Laos, wandering through the Chu Chi amd Vin Moch tunnels in Vietnam and many other great memories from our trip away many moons ago. This last song is also probably my favourite of the lot - enjoy.

That's a wrap

That's it for another week. Those are your three songs for week twenty five. Let me know what you think - good, bad or indifferent? Did you like them all or just one or two?

Also, as I said before, I love getting good steers for new tunes, so please tell me about the latest and greatest from your playlist below and I'll be sure to check em out.

Thanks as always for stopping by.

Peace Out
