(I photographed this old-school bus over the weekend.)

Hi Actifitters,

the sporting highlight of yesterday—or indeed of recent times—was setting a new personal record for elevation gain. As part of the Tour de France events on Zwift, a route involving over 1,000 meters of climbing had been suggested to me for a few weeks. During the work week, I never have the time to tackle such a demanding and time-consuming workout. Yesterday, however, I finally got around to it. Since I had never before conquered so much elevation in a single ride, I tried to stay consistently in Zones 1 and 2 to avoid having to quit halfway through due to overexertion.

Duration - 2:06:61
Distance - 19.08 km
Elevetaion gain - 1065 m
Average speed - 9.0 km/h
Maximum speed - 57.0 km/h
Average power output - 143 watts
Maximum power output - 313 watts
Average heart rate - 136 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 173 bpm

Even though I only rode in zones 1 and 2, my heart rate climbed to 173 towards the end. So, it was probably a very good idea not to pedal too aggressively right from the start. It became a real grind towards the end, and my backside was hurting. I definitely need to get a different saddle and new cycling shorts for longer rides.

Mission 80 (Day 35 = 88.0 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 2.0 kg)

As feared, I wasn't able to maintain my weight over the weekend. Today, I weighed 500 grams more than I did on Friday morning. It will be interesting to see what the scale says tomorrow, since another week will have passed by then.

Today, I’m going to focus on pull-up training again. Since I’ve made noticeable progress in this area over the last few weeks, I’m motivated and looking forward to following a training plan soon. I’m not yet sure if I’ll also fit in a cycling session, but it’s certainly a possibility.
