Just one more rep and four weeks of Mission 80... my training diary entry from July 27 2026

(I took this shot during a recent thunderstorm. It wasn't exactly easy to catch even a glimpse of a lightning bolt. I don't know how many photos I took before I finally succeeded.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday, I got to try my hand at close-grip push-ups again. For the third time in a row, I managed to increase my count by one rep. Now, I need just one more repetition in the final set to reach the next milestone and move up to the next level in the training plan.

The next goal according to the training plan (47+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
91188max (min. 11)60 seconds

My previous attempt (45):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
91188960 seconds

Yesterdays attempt (46):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
911881060 seconds

On top of that, I picked out a pretty challenging route on Zwift yesterday. The course starts right off with a climb of about 300 vertical meters, followed by a lightning-fast descent—as you can see from the figures coming up. I extended the route by some more vertical meters simply by riding the first section a second time.

Duration - 0:41:45
Distance - 9.56 km
Elevetaion gain - 437 m
Average speed - 13.7 km/h
Maximum speed - 81.5 km/h
Average power output - 192 watts
Maximum power output - 491 watts
Average heart rate - 141 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 175 bpm

Mission 80 (Day 29 = 88.5 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 1.5 kg)

The first four weeks of Mission 80 are over, and I have to say I would have expected significantly more progress. However, I have to accept that things are moving much more slowly. Still, I’m going to stick to my plan—even if it takes a full year to reach the 80 kg mark.

From yesterday to today, I lost 600 grams, bringing my total weight loss to 1.5 kg over the last four weeks. That works out to 375 grams per week. If things keep going like this, I’ll reach my goal in about 23 weeks. I will try to do it faster. ;)

Pull-ups and a few dumbbell exercises are on the agenda again today. Since I’m pretty booked up today, I probably won’t have time for an additional cycling workout.

I'm pretty sure that it'll be faster in the end. The beginning is always slow... Also, there's quite a bit fluctuation. Have you reviewed the weekly data? Maybe the average is not the best metric, but rather look for a trend and if it's accelerating. And yes, it's the Excel-lover talking here :-D

So far, I haven't really tried to tease any secrets out of the numbers. After all, I’m the exact opposite of an Excel lover. ;-)

Thank you very much for the reward
