Well………..🌊………My Actifit Report Card: January 13 2026

in Actifityesterday (edited)

……it didn’t! We were lucky to have missed the potential flood they were predicting! I almost could hear a collective sigh of relief across the county. 😅

The chart below shows the current level as of 5 PM local time and the lighter text indicates as does the dot on the graph, the crest height of the river. I as well as many, are sure glad we missed it! The mayor of Sumas is angry and rightly so! He’s submitted a letter to the county council about how the river is being mismanaged and various other related items to components of that management. I hope they listen and act, but I’m afraid that they’ll just push it under the rug. There’s a political side to this whole thing as you may well have guessed. 🙄

I went to ladies Bible study. I took along some of the surplus purple onions I got yesterday to share. Everyone had one sitting on the table in front of them. A new gal arrived who’d never been there before, and after a bit, she turned to the gal who leads it and innocently asked if she was supposed to bring an onion today? Needless to say, we all erupted into giggles, which at that time I told her that no, but she could take one or more! We all enjoyed the moment of fun and then continued on our studying of setting the grounds for the study on the Book of Romans.

This afternoon, we set out for my first hike in forever, as it’s been the first time in what seems like forever, that the sun was actually shining! 🌞 Jan came with. I shared purple onions with her as well! 😁

We ran into a few neighbors along the way. We went as far as the pond where @silvertop had a photo shoot with Pepe. See his post for those froggy 🐸 pictures.

Our temperatures are way too mild for this time of year! We were pushing 57 degrees when I arrived home from Bible study. I began looking for the one sure sign of spring that pops up in wetlands around here-skunk weed. Imagine my surprise when I actually found it!

On the other side of the road, it was coming up as well. I circled it in yellow in this next photo.

Skunk weed is a thermogenic plant, meaning it produces heat as it grows and can actually grow in snowy wetlands. No snow here-and even if we get cold weather which I’m sure we will eventually, it might slow the growth down a little but not too much. Skunk weed is edible at the roots only, but honestly with an aroma like that, who’d want to eat it?!

Fog was rolling in and up, if you will. You can see the beginning of it in this next picture. The shiny thing is a small area of ground water flooding in the valley below. This was taken and zoomed in with my phone, at the clear cut area.

The next few are just shots along the way.

A single standing dandelion plant.

Looks like it has 3 potential blooms on it.

Signs of spring-yet too soon to be here to stay. I guess next month will tell the true tale as to how long winter lasts based upon the groundhog showing.

Cot happened to be in the right place at the right last night, being sweet and innocent in sleep.

Such a tired boy! 😻

That’s it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV Genesis 15:12-16

Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

Hahaha, the part where the girl asks if she should bring Purple onions next time is hilarious! Hahaha. By the way, I'd love to receive a basket of Purple onions as a gift. Where am I It's a little more expensive, but Purple onion is essential for preparing good dishes. You took some good photos, the fog played its tricks I hope the next few days are productive for you, my friend.

Thank you @monachta! It was pretty funny!

I love purple onions, and they tend to cost more than the yellow ones do. When I saw the sale, I absolutely could not resist, even though I knew I couldn't eat them all before they would rot. Giving some away and keeping some makes me happy and I would have paid $7.99 for a 5 pound bag at the regular grocery. $7.99 for 25 pounds-quite the bargain!

Take care my friend! !LADY

Those moments of laughter in Bible study are important, as is enjoying the mild temperatures. I love the photo that reflects the sparkle in the water. Have a nice day! @elizabetbith,
