Hey everybody!
I took this opening screenshot on January 9th-exactly on month after I took this next picture.
That was taken at Riverside Park on December 9, 2025. Just before the flood hit.
This one, the evening of December 10th.
Yesterday at 4 PM, the river was on the rise-again!
This morning…….
I needed some coffee barista supplies, so this afternoon, in the onslaught of rain, we set out to Bellingham, with a stop afterwards for…..
….and some gas for the car and then headed for home. I specifically took a route that floods usually first, figuring that if it wasn’t underwater, then the floodgates across South Pass would still be open. We were able to get through that quick to flood area, but interestingly enough, we could see a type of ‘fog’ just over the levy next to the road we were driving on! I said I was going to head towards Riverside Park just to see if the river had breached that area yet. The city had barricaded the entrance as they’re anticipating the worst. That ‘fog’ we saw earlier was the mist from the river churning and speeding through the channel. This was the river level directly after we arrived home.
If you followed the posts from last month, you might remember flood stage is 83.0 feet.
Here’s a picture from last month of my direct path to work. Needless to say, I did not get there on December 11th.
The snow level has risen to 8500 feet meaning that all the snow previously on the ground will melt and add to the runoff which could raise the level of the river more. Do I think we’ll flood again? I’m thinking not but tomorrow will tell the tale.
That’s gonna be it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏
