After church today, we set out for a hike up the road to see just what was going on with the logging. I understand that logging is a necessary industry but again as I stated in a post from last week, up where there are no residential areas!
This first picture is the entrance to the 40 acre parcel that was heavily forested like you see at the back of this photo. Within 1 week, they have pretty much decimated it. I know of a creek and another wetland area within this parcel. I thought they were protected and that trees would remain around the perimeter of such lands. Apparently not! 😡 They’ve logged it all! Living in a state that touts protections on wetlands-it’s kind of obscene to me that they are a bunch of blow hards to allow this! I guess wetlands are only protected dependent on who you are! This next picture is directly to the right of the entrance.
I have a friend who built a barn on their property a few years ago. The county required them to actually have a plan in place where they were going to put the dirt that was excavated and the county had to approve their plan before permits were issued and building could commence! Then they allow things like this.
This next machine photo can cut a tree down, grab it and de-limb it and load it on a truck-all in one swipe. They’ve got 4 of them up there!
More views.
There is a lot of debris and discarded trees that will be left behind. It’s doubtful they will clean it up, so it will be left to dry and then become a fire hazard. Ever watch what happens to cedar and fir trees when the limbs catch on fire?
Like I said, I get it; we need lumber but this is too close to home(s).
After the tour, we headed up to the garden. At first, I thought this was possibly an animal’s fur, but upon closer inspection……..
….discovered it was a cattail that had gone to seed! It was everywhere as it appears Keith has been thinning them around the pond. They are a bit invasive and can actually overrun a pond.
The apples are coming along nicely!
Going back to the logging-they will subdivide the land and sell home sites. It has a beautiful view up top but at what cost? Also, water ironically, is an issue and with some adjudication issues looming as well, they will have to have some deep pockets and some friends in high places to make that work out. 😏
That’s gonna be it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
