Woot-Woot! All Aboard! 🚂………..My Actifit Report Card: July 3 2025

Trains! They’ve always intrigued me! I remember as a child; we’d go visit Grandma and Grandpa down in North Carolina every summer for 6-8 weeks. One year, our way down was via train. I’m not sure exactly of the route the train too, but it took 3 days to get there. We didn’t have a sleeper car either! I remember specifically looking out the window at the front of the train while on a curve. It was so cool to see the front of the train! Once we arrived, I was ‘rocking’ for a few days afterwards-leftover sensation from the rocking motion of the train!

I’ve never forgotten that. Later in life during our early part of our marriage, we did a model train display in our basement. The whole family was engrossed in it. During that time, we lost @silvertop’s mother. It was a sad time; the trains gave us something else to focus on during some of that time.

We were also intrigued by the narrow gage railroad in Colorado. We had interests in Colorado, so we vacationed there and dug into the history of the narrow gage railroad the difference between standard gage and narrow gages is that standard has 4 feet between the rails and narrow has 3 feet between the rails to get through the narrow mountain passes. Long and short of it-we opened up a model train store offer N scale, HO scale, 027 scale and G scale, which had some of the most detailed models of the Colorado and Southern Railroad. We were in heaven!

To make a long story short, we eventually moved to Colorado and drove those narrow gage rsilroad beds. Google or Grok ‘the Alpine Tunnel’. We’ve driven that! Crazy!

So now, here we are in Washington state. Snoqualmie has a railroad that you can ride on specific dates. I recently did a post on that trip back on June 15th. It was fun, but it’s sad that the nostalgic age of the railroad is mostly gone. Yes, Amtrak still runs, but from what my son told me when he worked for the railroad, that they’ve let it go down in condition. They’ve neglected the cars and engines.

I would love to take a trip across the country via train. Maybe someday, we will.

Now-do you know what this car is called?

It’s a caboose! They used to be the last car on every train that ran in the US. It’s pretty much a thing of the past and has been replaced by a red light called a Mars light that flashes or oscillates. The caboose is a thing of the past. So sad.

It was a slower time when trains ran. I think it might be good for all of us to take a step back and slow down every now and again, as we miss so much in this fast paced life we lead!

That’s gonna be it for today. Take care as always and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🙏

NKJV Matthew 6:5-15

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

That vintage train looks grand. It reminded me of our Royal Hudson that used to be stored not very far from where I live. It has been moved a few years ago but I don't know where they keep it now. It was just sitting there for years neglected. I hope it is finally under the care of someone.
The weekend is almost here!

That is the saddest thing about trains.......they are left to ruin and the elements are merciless! I'm grateful for those that have been saved. It's a lovely way to slow down a bit in this busy world and takes you back to another age.

Thanks for stopping by sis! Much !LUV🤗💜🌹

Times have certainly changed. After reading your post about trains, I feel like watching some episodes of Petticoat Junction. :)

Nice to see The Lord's Prayer in it's surrounding context. Adds more to the story, and more to think about.

Happy 4th! :)

I never tried to ride a train, I don't know when I can experience riding it.

I hope you get the opportunity someday. There is nothing quite like it. It's a nice way of slowing down a bit. Take care and thank you for stopping by! !LADY

Ye si hope I will have a chance to ride a train soon. We don't have it here in our place, we need to travel to another island if we would like to try it.

To older ones always look much better than the new ones, I'm talking about the NPR one at the top. :))
