Next Stop-The Museum……My Actifit Report Card: June 17 2025

in Actifit8 hours ago (edited)

The train ride we took on Sunday had four stops; the depot in North Bend; the depot in Snoqualmie; the end of the line at the falls, and between that and the Snoqualmie depot was the train museum! This was a thirty minute stop for us to stretch our legs and enjoy some train history. It’s located in the building behind the two engines and train car in the first picture.

One of the first things you see upon entering was this…..

This Weyerhaeuser engine was part of the Northern Transcontinental Railway. It was in seemingly perfect condition. I had to wonder why it wasn’t out running the train, but maybe the restoration was only cosmetic? Anyway, it was quite big and very interesting!

No museum for trains is complete without a caboose! This one was nicely restored, but was so dark inside, I didn’t take any interior photos. Inside was a small pot bellied stove for keeping warm in the winter months. Years ago, my mother had leant us a pot bellied stove she had, that was from a caboose. It was cast iron and was seriously cute! We installed it in the family room downstairs of our home back then. I was pregnant with our youngest and hauled firewood for the wood stove in the living room that year, and coal for this pot bellied stove we had, at the same time. It kept me hopping keeping them both stoked, lol! It was the best shape I was in while I was pregnant as well! We eventually removed it and gave it back as we were listing our home and that was not included!

This next car was actually a church car!

If you look closely towards the bottom of this next picture, you can see an old photo of it with the pews inside.

Very cool! Wouldn’t it be something to attend church on a train? I’d love it!

There was a gift shop there as well but we didn’t purchase anything. We all enjoyed the trip!

Today was spent getting back in the groove and dealing with having to go back to work tomorrow. I SO want to retire, but I’ve got at least 2 more years according to the plan for me. 😔

That’s gonna be it for today. Take care as always and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌎🙏

I sought the LORD, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.

Vintage Itinerant church for the traveling preacher, you don't see these often. I guess it's originally for remote communities with no established church. But "The Church comes to you."
