A day on the road with many possible outcomes. Heading back to Port Alberni to use as a jumping point for our vacation time, we stopped at on Hidden Gem of Vancouver Island worth the detour.
The Abyss, Nanaimo Lakes Road
Only about 10 minutes away from the highway and approximately 15 minute walk in this little known landmark caught my attention as soon as hearing about it. It’s not the view which caught my attention but like all others the intrigue of the crevice nicknamed ...
“The Abyss”
The route in is entirely up hill but being short and decently safe terrain I would suggest this even to a low level outdoor adventurist. On the way down we discovered a shortcut which goes straight up the face from the parking lot. The alternate route it much quicker but not ideal for anyone without appropriate hiking wear in good shape.
I will have a vlog coming after our vacation of this day ✌️
Port Alberni
Back in our hometown we stopped to see how mel‘s father is doing with the construction of his house. Looking good so far hoping for completion before the end of summer and wet weather hits. Very positive outcome from the crap he went through I have written about before, only lost half his property and still gets to build the house he wants on the section he wants 👌
We tried stopping at our all-time favourite restaurant for some Chinese food but it happen to be closed at the time sending us to discover a great alternative.
Porto Taco
Great Mexican Food and funky little place right by the harbour. Definitely recommend trying their burrito with in house made hot sauce 👌
After that it was basically just a walk to for Jerry to my childhood playground reminiscing.
Next we head to Tofino 🤟 Stay Safe Out There
Don’t worry we bought bear spray just incase 😅
