WB executives were going nuts with their movies. Even the recent Mortal Kombat movie had parts cut off and according to some of the people worked, even the best fight in the movie didn't make to the screens. All of that looks mild in comparison to what WB did to DCEU and Zack Snyder.
It's an entire rabbit hole. Don't even start digging if you don't want much of your time wasted on learning about human irrationality in the corporate world.
