I consider 1951's The Day the Earth Stood Still technically a Christmas movie due to the parallels between Klaatu & Jesus. Killed by government, returned from the dead, do unto others or else sermon, ect.

involvement can create some Jesus parallels.

They're really not the same movie. The 2008 version should have really had a different title.
I've heard about the differences. I should eventually get to watching the original and probably reading the short story.

To be honest I haven't read "Farewell to the Master" by Harry Bates either. Maybe we can start a sci fi book club.😀
I'd love to. But finding time is the tough part. I haven't read a proper sci-fi book in a long time. I occasionally manage to find some time for a short story.
