It's a poor quality photograph, reason being, i took this shot in 1993, on an old Canon AE1, with a 35mm lens, hand held, on time release. No tripod. It was originally shot on Kodachrome E6 transparency. A reversal print was made in 1994, and this is a 19kb scan from that reversal.

Admittedly, there's been a touch of post production, but not much, mostly to try and remove the grain, but fundamentally it's the same photo, all be it, the original slide has much more depth and colour. Perhaps if i were to re-scan using today's technology i could do it more justice.

The photo is not my best Air or Crimson shot by a long way, I have far better, but this has memories attached which give it so much more value to me.

Following an arduous trek past Gangotri to the source of the Ganges glacier at Gamok, I had recently returned to Laxman Jhula, a small village, nestled in a narrow valley, just north of Rishkesh, in the Indian mountain state of Himichal Pradesh. Sitting in a chai house, perched high on the banks of the holy Ganges, sipping garam chai from a khullad clay pot, i watched this crimson sunset pour out across the sky. I can honestly say, without any hint of disingenuousness, the sky genuinely was like that. #air #crimson
