Good evening fine Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia!

The light was looking a little funny a short while back and it didn't make much sense. In the late afternoon, it's usually bright sunshine, and there are good sunny spots here on the lower level of our house where the Dad-Hooman has his office.

What happened to my sunny spot?

Turned out the sun had pretty much vanished, several hours before sunset.

Not entirely vanished, but close enough...

This doesn't look right...

The "problem" turns out to be a thick layer of smoke that has moved into our area.

Nothing close to us, or immediately dangerous... the fires are several hundred miles north of us, in British Columbia, Canada.

You can't actually smell the smoke in the air, but we have all been feeling a bit of a tickle in our throats... and you can definitely see the smoke in the air.

We can barely see land across the bay from us, less than 1/2 mile away!

The reddish quality of the light is definitely very pretty, so the Dad-Hooman was out and about with his camera.

I can't say that I think very much of it. But kitty noses are a lot more sensitive than Hooman noses.

We took a look online, and "they" say it will all clear back up by tomorrow noon, because they direction of the breeze is changing.

Normally, we have some of the cleanest air in North America around here, but that can't be said for right now... as you can see, our air quality is pretty bad.

Unfortunately, we're having a heatwave at the moment, so closing the windows is really not in the cards. We need all the cool breeze we can get, as houses here are built to keep heat in rather than circulate it out.

That's not the sunset, that's the reflection of the sun off the water. You can't actually see the horizon!

Well, I'd better get back to my napping!
