An auld blast of IPAs for Beer Saturday and some cold water immersion

Raise a glass for Beer Saturday

It's Saturday again folks and there is a bit of a nip in it now I must say, and I should know when the nip comes, as I started something months and months ago, and it is related to the benefits of cold water immersion, yep that's right I ditched the hot or even warm showers. Every morning I turn the dial to as cold as it goes and take the plunge, it's a bit cold initially, but it gets bearable pretty quickly and I am quite used to it now and in a sense enjoy it, it really is a great way to wake up and wash off the spider webs if you're a bit tired or lethargic. Trust me, you will not be lethargic after the cold shower first thing. This morning though, I could feel a change in the water temperature and guess what it will only get worse as the Autumn takes hold and is slowly surrendered to Winter. I am interested to see how long I can keep it going, eventaully I may need to switch to 2 minute cold water and finish with hot, but for now I will persevere with the challenge and the health benefits are multiple, so why not.

So, let us move on from cold water immersion and onto cold beer immersion of the IPA variety. One of my friends is calling over for a few beers later on, so I have stocked up my fridge with plenty of supplies, as you can see below.

He will have his choice of beers from the following, all of which get the @ablaze nod of approval. One should always keep a few cold ones in the fridge just in case, well until the kids are a bit older, then, we'll change things up a bit, although I do like the idea of allowing teenagers to try a beer or two at home to remove the wonder from it, better have two beers at home in safety, than have 8 out with friends and get yourself in trouble potentially. Well, we still have a few years before we need to think about that, but it may be a good way to go, I know some parents who took this approach, and it worked out well.

Now if he doesn't like any of them, he can feck off and get his own beer, which knowing him he will bring anyway, so I fully expect to see another selection of IPAs to join the cooling party in the fridge while they await the slugging and the craic. We have not caught up in ages, so it will be good to catch up on old times, while enjoying a few cold ones.

The Grade

5/5

I'm going to give it a 5/5 as I know that we will have a great time catching up and if the beers go down well, which I know they will, it will be an extra bonus.
