Some recent Beers

I don't work at the office that much these days.

I used to once upon a time.

We were all delighted when a trendy brewery moved in next door. Not only did they brew proper tasty IPAs, but they had a bar and pizza joint too and both the IPAs and the pizzas were spot on.

Many a Friday evening was spent in here straight after work.

This is from a recent night out. My colleague and I finished up work and were on the way to a going away do for an old colleague, and we decided to dip into Rascals for a couple of swift ones.

The cans of IPA lining the walls are pretty cool.

The brewery itself is on site as well and they do tours to show you exactly how they make their IPAs which we did in the early days.

The two beers and pizza went down really well anyway and we made our way into town then for the farewell party for our friend who was leaving the business.

We went back on the Guinness in town.

I lift my glass of Guinness stout,
So dark it makes the daylight pout.
A creamy crown, a foamy hat,
Worn proudly, imagine that.

It pours so slow, it tests my soul,
Like, “Patience, friend, I’m worth the wait, let those stories roll”
The bubbles rise, then calmly pop,
As if they said, “Relax. Don't stop”

One sip goes down like velvet rain,
A roasted hug for heart and brain.
Notes of coffee, bread, and cheer,
Basically a meal, let’s all be clear.

I swear it makes me wiser too,
By pint three I’ve solved a thing or two:
World peace? Easy. Taxes? Fair.
I’ll explain, just grab a chair.

So here’s to Guinness, black and bold,
The friend who never does what it’s told.
May your glass be full, your troubles few,
And may all your bad ideas start after a brew.
