A big surprise for Beer Saturday

Beer Saturday or Beerless Saturday?

Psssst..... Ya you. Come here. Get in a bit closer, I don't want @detlev to hear me.

Ok, the coast is clear... I'm off the sauce for January, I thought why not park it for a month and see how I get on. Lots of people give this a crack in Ireland, so I thought why not give it an auld lash myself, so here I am.

Rather than not take part in Beer Saturday for the rest of the month though, I decided that I'd look back on some favourite beers from 2022 and I might even buy a few beers this months and leave them aside for February. Any I'll kick off with a staple beer for any body who likes IPAs.

Sierra Nevada's California IPA

What they say

"A light American IPA which is very sessionable! Crisp and refreshing with citrus fruit notes, a hint of pine and a little caramel."

Yes, it is all of those things if memory serves. I might have to get a few of these for the fridge for February.

Beer Art

What can I say about the beer art here? Well it's distinctively Sierra Nevada, no question about it and it's a nice shade of blue, but for me it's a bit boring, a bit safe, a bit predictable. I prefer IPAs that really go for it with the Beer Art with something a bit mad looking. Leave the boring safe labels to Budweiser, Heineken and the like.

Will It be a long month

I don't think so actually and in a lot of ways I am looking forward to it. The only potential spanner in the works would be if my local Gaelic Football team were to win the semi final tomorrow and go on and win the All Ireland semi final tomorrow and then go on to win the final.

Now as per below the bookmakers don't fancy us to win tomorrow, but I think they have it wrong and 15/8 odds are great value, because Moycullen have a few gears that they can get to if they need to and I reckon they will do the job on Sunday and make it to the final.

If they somehow got to the final and won it, I'd have to consider a night off, but let's not cross that bridge unless we come to it.

Nice one @qurator and @brumest - thanks a million 👌

I like the design of the can. I would probably buy it because of that. But above all, of course, I would like to try the !BEER.

Oh man this is a hard one. I can see the benefit in it, I have some extra kgs I need to drop to get back in shape, so a month without it might do me good as well.

But, I love my beer and the traditional food I eat with it! Me and the dad has this little tradition of playing blues music whilst we braai (BBQ) and drink local beers.

If you can do it, please tell me your secret! Good luck!

Ya one week in and going strong, after two or three weeks I might be different, as I do enjoy a glass of Rioja, pint of Guinness, IPA etc

Best of luck my friend! I can only imagine, most of those are also my staple.
