Definitions and Example Sentences
Resolution (noun) - 1. determination / 2. a decision to do or not do something
- The couple made a resolution to exercise more this year.
- The freshman made the football team because of his hard work and resolution.
- BONUS - Most people follow their New Year's resolution for only 3 to 4 weeks.
Acquaintance (noun) - someone you know, but are not close with
- Treat every acquaintance as if he or she be your new best friend.
- The woman went out to eat with some of her business acquaintances.
- BONUS - First, we were acquaintances, and then we were friends. Friendship turned to love, and now we are married.
Resonant (adjective) - echoing
- The resonant sounds of the horns added to the celebration.
- His resonant voice creates awe in the hearts of his listeners.
- BONUS - The resonant wind created an eerie sound in the valley.
Grandstand (noun) - the main seating area for spectators
- New York City had to modify its grandstands due to the pandemic.
- The stadium's new VIP box is considered a premier grandstand.
- BONUS - It was devastating when the grandstand collapsed under the spectators.
