Zusammenfassung:
Nach dem Abendessen entdecken Jim und Lukas eine Inschrift auf ihren Esstäbchen, geben anschließend eine Zugfahrt für Ping Pong und schmieden Pläne für ihre weitere Reise.
Das ist aber ein kurzes Kapitel heute.
Es passiert ja eigentlich nicht viel.
Man hat fertig zu Abend gegessen, sittz in gemütlicher Runde zusammen und unterhält sich etwas.
Es wird nun auch klar, weshalb es so einfach war für Ping Pong, an das Essen zu kommen, denn er hat Beziehungen in den Palast. Dort arbeitet einer seiner Verwandten als Koch.
Er selbst genehmigt sich eine Flasche Eidechsenmilch, weil das alle Babys um die Uhrzeit in Mandala trinken würden.
Naja, wer Kleinkinder kennt, weiß, dass das nicht stimmen kann. Deren Hunger richtet sich rein garnicht nach der Uhrzeit.
Was den Namen des Getränks betrifft, so gehe ich davon aus, dass es Fertigmilch, Milchpulver, ist und auf der Verpackung vermutlich eine Eidechse abgebildet.
Wieder beweist Lukas im Anschluß, dass er ein Tausendsassa ist, indem er die Schrift auf den Essstäbchen entziffern kann.
Was nun folgt, würde man heute schlicht als Werbung, bzw. in diesem Falle als Propaganda bezeichnen.
Angeblich wurde die Prinzessin in die Drachenstadt entführt.
Beweise gibt es nicht, nur eine Flaschenpost.
Dem Kaiser ist also viel daran gelegen, dass in diese Stadt eingedrungen wird und eine Person von dort zu entführen.
Anschließend darf man diese Person sogar heiraten.
Wow, das ist aber eine sehr seltsame Belohnung.
Aus heutiger Sicht ein absolutes Unding, jemanden als Belohnung auszusprechen.
In späteren Kapiteln werde ich mit Sicherheit nochmals darauf zu sprechen kommen, was der Kaiser alles hätte tun können, um diese Situation selbst zu lösen und nicht auf ein Deus Ex Machina zu warten.
Denn er ist ja selbst sehr tatenlos.
Jim und Lukas werden also versuchen diese Prinzessin zu befreien.
Damit ihnen die Erlaubnis erteilt wird, eine Eisenbahnlinie durch das Land zu legen.
Wenn dein Ziel ist, hier eine Eisenbahnstrecke zu errichten, solltest du doch sofort den Kaiser informieren und nicht erst auf Umwegen dies über seine Tochter versuchen zu erreichen.
Wenn die Strecke so wichtig ist für das Land, wird der Kaiser auch sicher so zustimmen, oder?
Andere Dinge, die mir noch aufgefallen sind.
- Jim kann die Menschen in Mandala nicht auseinander halten. seufz Stereotypisierung fremder Menschen, wie originell.
- Ping Pong wird schlecht beim Zugfahren. Interessanterweise ist mir das noch nicht untergekommen. Jedes Kleinkind hat die Milch drinbehalten, egal ob im Auto oder in Bus und Bahn. Erst wenn Kinder älter werden, wird ihnen beim Fahren schlecht, bzw. kann ihnen schlecht werden;)
- Der Palast hat einfach so eine ungeschützte Hintertür? Also ein Nebeneingang, der unbewacht Tag und Nacht zu erreichen ist? Sehr riskant.
- Wo bitteschön hat Lukas schonmal einen Tierpark besucht? Auf Lummerland sicherlich nicht.
Also scheint es neben Lummerland noch ein anderes Land zu geben. Weshalb sind die beiden nicht dorthin gefahren, sondern ins weit entfernte Mandala?
Trotz der Kürze, kommt man in dem Kapitel mal wieder auf jede Menge Ungereimtheiten.

Nächste Woche gibt es eine Zirkusvorstellung und man macht sich einen neuen Feind im Palast.

Summary:
After dinner, Jim and Luke discover an inscription on their chopsticks, then give a train ride for Ping Pong and make plans for the rest of their journey.
It is a short chapter today.
They've finished dinner, sit together in a cosy circle and talk a bit.
It now becomes clear why it was so easy for Ping Pong to get the food, because he has connections in the palace. One of his relatives works there as a cook.
He allows himself a bottle of lizard's milk, because that's what all the babies in Mandala would drink at that time of day.
Well, anyone who knows infants knows that this can't be true. Their hunger does not depend at all on the time of day.
As far as the name of the drink is concerned, I assume that it is ready-made milk, milk powder, and that there is probably a picture of a lizard on the packaging.
Afterwards, Luke again proves that he is a jack-of-all-trades by being able to decipher the writing on the chopsticks.
What follows would today simply be called advertising, or in this case propaganda.
Allegedly, the princess was abducted to Dragon City.
There is no proof, only a message in a bottle.
So the emperor is very keen to get into this city and kidnap a person from there.
Afterwards, one may even marry this person.
Wow, that's a very strange reward.
From today's point of view, an absolute outrage to give someone as a reward.
In later chapters I will certainly come back to what the emperor could have done to solve this situation himself and not wait for a Deus Ex Machina.
After all, he himself is very inactive.
Jim and Luke will try to free this princess, of course.
So that they can be given permission to lay a railway line through the country.
If your aim is to build a railway line here, you should inform the emperor immediately and not try to achieve this in a roundabout way via his daughter.
If the line is so important for the country, the emperor will surely agree, won't he?
Other things I noticed.
- Jim can't tell the people in Mandala apart. sigh Stereotyping strangers, how original.
- Ping Pong goes bad while riding the train. Interestingly, I haven't come across this before. Every toddler has kept the milk in, whether in the car or on the bus or train. It's only when children get older that they get sick, or can get sick, while driving;)
- The palace has an unprotected back door just like that? So a side entrance that can be reached unguarded day and night? Very risky.
- Where on earth has Luke ever visited an animal park? Certainly not on Lummerland.
So there seems to be another country besides Lummerland. Why didn't they go there, but to Mandala, far away?
Despite its brevity, the chapter once again contains many inconsistencies.
