Hello dear friends of Hive and greetings to all members of the Architecture and Design community! A couple of days ago I was walking with some friends in the vicinity of Puerto Madero neighborhood, specifically along Paseo Colon Avenue and I came across a structure that I had never seen before, I didn't know it really existed.
I was very struck by the fact that it was an imposing building, it looked like a historic building and had a very interesting facade, with flags of the Argentinean country, I assumed it was a national or state entity, so I decided to take a picture and file the building to make a special visit and get to know it, even its exterior, and that is what I come to share with you.
Hola queridos amigos de Hive y saludos a todos los miembros de la comunidad de Arquitectura y Diseño! Hace un par de días estuve caminando con algunos amigos por las cercanías del barrio de Puerto Madero, concretamente por la Avenida Paseo Colón y me topé con una estructura que jamás había visto, no sabía que existía realmente.
Me llamó muchísimo la atención que era un edificio imponente, parecía un edificio histórico y tenía una facha muy interesante, con banderas del país argentino, supuse que era una entidad nacional o estatal, así que decidí tomarle una foto y archivar el edificio para hacerle una visita en especial y poder conocerlo así sea su exterior y es lo que vengo a compartir con ustedes.
It is the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries. It is a twin building exactly the same but built at different times since at first it was only one building, built at the beginning of the last century, more specifically for 1919 which was the day of its inauguration. For the year 1930 approximately the construction of the twin building was carried out with the purpose of being the headquarters of oil institutions, however later it would become part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries or by its acronym in Spanish MAGyP.
Like most of the buildings in Buenos Aires, they are made up of different architectural styles of the last century. Among them is the eclectic architecture which is the case of this building that I present to you today. Something particular is that it combines different styles such as neo-Gothic, French academicism and Tudor. The architect Andrés Vanelli was responsible for this great architectural work.
Se trata de la sede del ministerio de agricultura, ganadería y pesca. Es un edificio gemelo exactamente igual pero contruido en diferentes épocas ya que en un principio solo fue un edificio, contruido a principios del siglo pasado, más concretamente para 1919 que fue el día de su inauguración. Para el año 1930 aproximadamente se realizó la construcción del edificio gemelo con la finalidad de ser sede de instituciones petrolíferas, sin embargo después pasaría a ser parte del ministerio de agricultura ganadería y pesca o por sus siglas en español MAGyP.
Cómo la mayoría de los edificios en Buenos Aires, están constituidos por estilos de distintas corrientes arquitectónicas del siglo pasado. Entre ellos se encuentra la arquitectura eclectica lo que es el caso de este edificio que les presento el día de hoy. Algo particular es que éste combina diversos estilos como el neogótico, el academicismo francés y el tudor. Para ésta gran obra arquitectónica fue responsable el arquitecto Andrés Vanelli.
There is a difference between both buildings in spite of being identical in appearance, the construction of the second building was in charge of other architects called Mauricio Kinbaum y Cía and there were variations in relation to the materials used and the architectural factors since there were also differences in aesthetics for the interior design.
An interesting fact is that this building was not built primarily to house this ministerial headquarters. For many years in the country, architectural styles had a purpose and we can mention the neo-gothic style, characteristic of cathedrals and churches, which had a meaning of charity, health or religion. So this building was built for charitable purposes, functioning as a night asylum and in this way fulfilling its charitable function, later the work would be transferred to the aforementioned ministry.
Existe una diferencia entre ambos edificios a pesar de ser idénticos en aspecto, la construcción del segundo edificio estuvo a cargo de otros arquitectos llamados Mauricio Kinbaum y Cía y hubo variaciones en relación a los materiales utilizados y a los factores arquitectónicos ya que también para el diseño interior hubo diferencias en estéticas.
Un dato interesante es que este edificio no fue construido principalmente para albergar ésta sede ministerial. Durante muchos años en el país los estilos de arquitectura tenían un propósito y podemos mencionar el neogótico, estilo característico de catedrales e iglesias y que tenían un significado de caridad, salud o religión. Entonces este edificio fue construido por temas de caridad funcionando como un asilo nocturno y de ésta forma cumplir su función caritativa, mas adelante cederían la obra al ministerio ya antes mencionado.
The main entrance is composed of three arches together with Tudor style pillars that support it. It is one of the most outstanding buildings in the area, being a historic structure with great architectural significance. It is impossible not to see new buildings along the route that I take through the city of Buenos Aires, both classic and modern.
It is a pleasure for me to be able to share with all of you a little bit of the architecture of this country and specifically of the federal capital of Buenos Aires and the provinces that surround it. La entrada principal está compuesta por tres arcos conjuntamente con pilares de estilo tudor que lo sostienen, es uno de los edificios que más resaltan en la zona tratándose de una estructura histórica y con gran significado arquitectónico. Es imposible no conocer nuevas edificaciones a lo largo de los recorrido que realizo por la ciudad de Buenos Aires tanto clásicos como modernos.
Es para mí un placer poder compartir con todos ustedes un poco de la arquitectura de este país y concretamente de la capital federal de Buenos Aires y las provincias que la rodean.
