Maybe the trending content shouldn't be confused, and the author should consider all the consequences of hitting the trending page. It's like a lottery played, and maybe some authors don't even prefer to be there.

Agreed.
There are quite some creators that would like not to be on the front page in order to avoid revenge reaction from those whales that may don't like their content, or maybe because they are making mistakes that want to obfuscate.
It might appear kinda ironic but that is how DPOS blockchains work.
Anyhow, The only safe way for us to reach trending is to ignore trending and keep improving content. At least this is my humble opinion.
