Shanghai International Film Festival: Interview With Legendary Director Denis Villeneuve & His Movie Dune (2020) Based on The Book That Sold Over 20 Million Copies

in The City of Neoxian4 years ago

Denis Villeneuve is the great director behind Prisoners (2013), Enemy (2013), Sicario (2015), Arrival (2016), Blade Runner 2049 (2017) and few more older movies that I am not very knowledgeable about. This is a director who knows what he is doing that works with the best in the field in all departments. There aren't many in depth interviews with him and even the ones that exist don't go that deep and last very long. Luckily we got 54 minutes of this living legend.

Few Things About Frank Herbert's Book

  • the book was released in August 1965
  • Dune won the Hugo Award
  • World's 1st Nebula Award for Best Novel was given to Dune
  • There are six Dune novels written by Frank Herbert
  • Later other authors added books to the franchise
  • There were two TV series and one of them starred James McAvoy
  • There was a 1984 adaptation with a massive budget bigger than Star Wars by David Lynch
  • The studio meddling ruined things so far David Lynch disowned the movie
