I just finished a 21.032km bike ride that lasted about 0hh:57mm:00ss !
I am still struggling with motivation to get back into my running training. It's been a little better, with a few runs, about once a week (still need to post an update, maybe after my next run). But the current heat wave completely broke the little motivation I had managed to gather. But Monday, after a long walk with the dog in the morning, I felt I needed more activity in the evening. A bike ride sounded like a much better option than a run in this heat, still above 80F (27C) at 8pm.
My first bike ride since last October! My old faithful mountain bike needed some air of course, but other than that, it was all ready to go. I chose a very familiar route in and around the neighborhood, and just added extra loops along the way. In the end, that was about an hour, covering just about 13 miles. Not very impressive distance or speed, but that was really not the point. Just wanted to spend some more time in the sun without melting like I do when I run or even just walk.
And as often, it was also an opportunity to catch great views of the sunset along the way. That's another advantage of biking over running: I can carry my phone with me, and stop anytime I want when I see something I find worthy of a photo.
Since temperatures are supposed to stay high for at least a few days, I am thinking this will not be my last ride this week. Then maybe I can also think about running, but right now I am using the morning slightly cooler temperatures for walks with the dog, because she also needs the outdoor time and exercise. So we'll see how June looks like in terms of mileage.
