39th Molnik Run, September 20th 2020

My first official running event in the REAL life this year.

I opted to enter the 20 K distance to stretch the legs and have fun. It wasn't a race for me. It was about meeting running friends and having fun in nature.

The run starts by the Zadvor community building and is organized by the local sports society, Športno društvo Zadvor.

When I came to the start and finish area I met my running buddy from 15 years ago, Borut. Immediately we decided to run together.

There is a 5 K long loop prepared for us, tarmac forest road, trail, asphalt just near the finish area. Almost flat. Perfect for the Sunday long run in a good company.

Surprisingly, there weren't many participants. Maybe sixty on all three distances, 5, 10 and 20 K. Who know, it might be that people are still apprehensive of coming together in public places.

Borut and me finishing the first lap. We talked non-stop for hor and a half while running in a slightly under 6 /km pace.

This is probably our second lap. Action photos by Zlatka, thank you.

Third lap?

After the 15 K mark we decided that I may go forward. I was curios how much power I have still in my legs after running 20 K yesterday (annual Rašica march [Exhaust Running Report, September 19th 2020]) and 15 already this morning.

I raised the pace to 5:30 and then to 5:10 for the last 5 K lap. Finish time was 1:53:34 for 19.6 K, a pace of 5:47. Very good for a zen runner. Borut finished minutes after. All kudos to him too. And thanks for a great company during the run. We talked a lot.

Podium in the over 50 age group. Another running friend Pavle won it. I came second out of two participants in this category :)

Acrylic medals are still in fashion. Nice.

Lap times, approximately sinc ethe loop is slightly shorter than 5 K. You can see how I stepped up in the last lap.

The map of the run. The hills repeated four times, are not as demanding as they seem on the profile graph.

It was a great morning with friends in a good company. The run was good too :)

Thanks to the organizers for taking such good care of us. See you next year!

lol surprised you still had that much power after 15k. Some runs aren't meant for speed anyways, and this was certainly one of them. Glad you had fun

Thanks. I tried and found it. It was fun. Surprisingly, when you run relatively a lot, your speed increases even when you don't train for it specifically.
