I Made Another Artwork... This Time, It's My Mama!!! Advanced Happy Birthday! <3

in OCD3 years ago

I was able to draw another artwork today! I'm so glad to finish it. It was challenging and the result wasn't that good, but I'm kind of happy with it. I still need a lot of practice, and this is a good start!

This coming Saturday, my mama is celebrating her birthday. And since a few days back, I drew my virtual friend as a gift for her birthday, I decided to also draw something for my mama.

My mama and papa actually liked it. However, they jokingly said, "You should've made her cheeks thinner." and I said, "I only drew according to what I see... I'm not Photoshop!" and we all laughed. haha I love my mama's chubby cheeks, though. They're so adorable. <3

In order to make this artwork, I took out my watercolor pad, pencil, eraser, watercolor pencils, brushes and of course water. :) Same as the previous artwork, the drawing process has three main parts. Let's get to them one by one.

Of course, the first one is the rough pencil sketch. I tried making it as light as I can since I just trace directly with watercolor pencil without erasing them. I failed on some parts especially the hair, but my mama's hair is black, so no worries. haha

Next would be adding the colors. As I've mentioned, I used watercolor pencils in doing so. I tried mixing various colors on the skin and other parts to emphasize some facial features. I used around five to six colors on the skin. It's funny how I do this now. I remember just using one or two colors for the skin in the past. I didn't know how to make use of colors. But along the way, after trial and error (yes, I still don't watch tutorials), I could blend in similar hues. <3

Lastly, I had to blend in the colors with water. I really prefer it this way because the rough and obvious pigments are minimized if not disappear. It's much easier now, too because I got smaller size brushes, so I could use it even for smaller details. I feel so thankful to my bff for giving me brush sets last Christmas. haha Soon, I'll be drawing her lovely babies and give it to her as a present. <3

Do I look like my mama? haha Most of my friends and acquaintances say I look like her, but the moment they see my papa, they change their minds because I look more like my papa. haha Literally the female version of him. haha

Anyway, I'm glad to be able to draw something today. Actually, I had to work but my PC's keyboard gave up on me after many years. Hopefully, I get my new keyboard tomorrow. Oh well, I decided to open and conduct classes using my laptop tomorrow. *I keep saying tomorrow, but it's actually later today. It's currently 3AM now.

Having said that, I need to say good night and see you later! I'll read some manga before hitting the sack, though. I hope you like my artwork today! Until next time! (^_^)/
