Ilorin Festival after Eid el Kabir

in OCD2 years ago

Every country has her festival done in her states or as a whole but here in Africa, it is done by each states or belief. Culture is well appreciated here and it's done every time it's season comes. I love seeing the beauty of culture and that's why I like to attend in person.

This is a festival done in Ilorin, Kwara state and it's called "Bareke". It's mostly after Durbar done a day after Salah and it's not always done but it's either Durbar or Bareke in a year.

It happens that about 400 houses were brought from the northern part of the country to celebrate this festive day. It's mostly a day whereby the Emir of the state checks round the city after celebrating the Eid el Kabir to see from one place to another while the local music goes on and the dances with the horses and praises everywhere.

These people on the camels are called the "Ciroma of Ilorin". I'm not too much familiar with their role in the state but I definitely know that they are one of the powerful and respected people of the Emir. An Emir is mostly like a King in other places and are much more important anywhere in country.

The young ones on the horses are the ones who clear the road before the Ciroma and the Emir passes to avoid some traffic on the road. The road needs to be cleared awaiting who's coming on the way.

This guy here is having some issues with his horse that refuses to move, he had to come down from the horse and begin to check what's wrong with it. It's really tough riding on a horse at times and it's an interesting ride with it. I stood with this guy while making my video of the festival and it took him about thirty minutes to get a hold of the horses issue.

This is what got my attention the most. I love the music played by this people, it sounded local but it had a melody that goes with the dance, almost like an Indian song. I'm so much inlove with the melody and rhymes. The music is the only thing I can be so much happy with during my videoing.

And here comes the Emir himself in a chariot with some people guilding the horses and protecting him. He goes with his guards and some security agents or should I say police who are there incase of any threat.

The Emir is quite old and I think he should be in his 80's, Judging according to his looks. I find the festival interesting and I would love tobe present next year and o make another video and feel the value of culture.

This looks and sounds as if it is a very popular and loved festival. I liked seeing all of the different attire worn.
