How to draw a watermelon

in Sketchbook19 hours ago (edited)

Earlier today i was so hungry and had nothing to eat. After so much thinking without positive results, i decided to try something else and then quickly generate some fruits.

Gladly i could capture the freshness of a watermelon using nothing but a biro. From the early progress shots, where the form was just beginning to take shape and then moved onto the final details where the light, seeds and surface came alive. At that point it became less about the fruit itself and more about patience, layering and letting each stroke build the whole picture so i could enjoy all the sweetness when it came out.
I enjoy pushing the boundaries of what can be done with everyday tools, this drawing reminded me that sometimes the simplest materials can create the most striking results and I’d love you to learn how to do that from my progress shots so you can make some fruits when hungry!.
Ps:Best served chilled.
