Mighty Lion (marker sketch)

in Sketchbook3 years ago

It's finally Friday!!! I still have to work until almost midnight but the thought of not working the next day excites me. I'd be able to paint more and do other hobbies that require much longer time. ^^ Also, even though I opened several classes today, some students were absent earlier, so I decided to practice sketching.

This is very random, but I'm quite happy with how it looked. I used my sketchpad, pencil and markers in making this piece. <3

At first, it was merely a pencil sketch...

However, I wanted to have fun with it. Coloring it using watercolor pencils or other coloring materials would take a lot of time, so I decided to play with my markers, instead. I only have blue, black and red, so I just went with the flow of what I think would look interesting. Anyway, art is an expression of freedom, isn't it? :)

I placed a bit of a highlight on some parts using white ink, but unfortunately, I ran out of it... so I could only place pretty small highlights. Anyway, the most important thing is I enjoyed creating this piece. Lions are fascinating and strong animals. They're often feared by other animals, even by people... but I think they're also really cute and adorable. I haven't seen one in person yet, but it would be awesome to do so... especially in the wild.. or perhaps in some safari somewhere. I don't like seeing them inside cages or very small enclosed places, though.

Art is random and fun! <3
