I Sketched "Itsukushima Shrine" (pen and watercolor pencils art)

in Sketchbook2 years ago

Due to my busy working schedule and my laziness, I don't really have time to practice drawing. Well, if I did have time, I would rather just laze around and do nothing. However, I wanted to change this. So, I decided to insert drawing practice during my break time. I'll try doing so at least a few days a week.

I feel that I'm losing my touch (although it wasn't there to start with.. lol) But really, I just want to get back to drawing at least since painting takes more time.

So, during my break from work, I tried to create this.

Japan is one of the countries I've been dreaming to visit. It's not only because of anime and manga, but also of the many beautiful places it has to offer.

In the past, I have painted Kumano Kodo specifically Nachi temple and falls since it's one of the many places I want to see in Japan. Now, I tried sketching Itsukushima Shrine in Hiroshima.

I would also love to see this beauty someday. I have always been fascinated with torii gates. It is said that torii gates are portals to the sacred world. I have often seen them being used as such in some fantasy anime.
Among the torii gates in Japan, Itsukushima is quite iconic since it seems to be floating during high tide. Well, I have seen a picture of a torii of the same situation, but it's not very popular and it's smaller compared to this one. However, it would be nice to see it as well, since Lake Biwa is so beautiful, too. <3

Before I blabber more about Japan, allow me to share some progress shots on this artwork, and I hope you like them.

Pencil sketch. :)

Colorful sky... I originally planned to just use colored pencils for this art.

Yep... I changed my mind and blended the colors with water.

I then used a pen to outline and add more details to the artwork.

And... it's done!
I decided to keep it simple.

I know I have been lazy, but I'll try to practice more. I'm eager to draw more beautiful landscapes and other subjects as well.

I hope you like this simple artwork of mine. See you next time and may you have a great one!

Very nice! I've been to Itsukushima actually. 😁 It's really a beautiful place!
I recently posted about the Red Gate of Peace in Hakone. I hope you'll also consider visiting that torii when you come to Japan someday. 😉

Wow... that's so cool!
Thanks for dropping by... and yes, I'll check it out!
Have a great one! (^^,)/

I really hope you could come to Japan one day!
It would be very nice if you could draw the things you see on the spot.

Yes... That's one of my dreams. To actually visit those places and draw. 🥰 Someday, for sure. 🥰
