Blossom Like a Flower... I Used My Brush Again After A While :)

in Sketchbook3 years ago

It's been a while since I painted something because of various reasons, but I needed to do it. Anyway, I took a day off yesterday and I wanted to make use of my time painting as I haven't done it in a while. I finished two paintings earlier, but I want to share them separately.

The first painting I made is very random. I have always wanted to practice painting a flower, but I suck at it... not that I'm good at painting other stuff, but I have no idea on what to do. I'm also too lazy to check some video tutorials. lol

So, I decided to just play with some paint and go with the flow. And here's what happened.

Don't mind my haggard look. Well, I'm not stressed, I just lack sleep. haha However, instead of resting, I painted... well, this is also a kind of rest for me. In addition, it's almost 3AM now and I'm still wide awake, so here I am... at least trying to be productive. I'll have to force myself to sleep soon, though. It's a work day tomorrow.

Before that, I want to show my painting process, so you'd know how random it was. lol

First, I covered the kitchen table to avoid unnecessary stains. Last time, some paint got onto the glass. Well, it was easy to take out, but troublesome. Also, I decided to use Tulcraft Acrylic because I wanted to practice mixing colors instead of relying on the acrylic tubes with various colors.

I have all primary colors, black and white. I believe these are the only colors I need to create the other colors. I also tried mixing them to prepare the possible colors I need.

When everything's set, let's begin!

For no particular reason, I started with the background and chose orange for it. haha And since I chose a color from the brighter side as a background, I decided to create a flower the color of which is from the darker side.

Nope! It isn't the coronavirus. haha I decided to go with a sunflower but I don't know how to make it, so just look at the pictures below. You'll notice that I've made a lot of adjustments. XD

A blue one would be good! I thought. But as you see, it looked so boring, so... here's what I did.

It looked better, but I thought it was too bright... I want some dark green in the middle. So, I did this...

image.png

WTF did I do? haha I was feeling a bit hopeless, but I decided to continue. At this point, I don't understand how it looks like... so, I added another color.

Ohh.. it's looking at least a bit better than earlier lol And so, I proceeded with whatever comes to my mind next.

Hahaha I don't know why I chose white... but oh well. While looking at it, I still didn't feel right... so I decided to just outline the whole thing with black to give more detail to it. Of course, I have no idea how to do it... so whatever, I just did it. haha

This one looks decent... is what I thought at that time. I was considering whether or not make some leaves, but I was a bit impatient, so I didn't. I did this instead.

Okay... this pass. According to my lazy self. However, when I showed it to my mama, she liked it... so it's OK. haha I was mumbling the whole time that I don't know how to draw a flower, so mama was so supportive. haha I still don't know how, but it looks like a flower at least, right? Let's just take off the masking tape. XD

And that's the end of the first painting. This is actually the last page of my watercolor pad, so I have to use a new one on my second painting. I said new, but I actually got it around last year... maybe?

To be continued! hahaha

But let me just say, that the second painting is an anime character. I felt it was much easier making it that this one. haha

I'll end this post here. I hope you like my flower painting despite me being a noob! Please check out my next painting. I'll try to paint more in the days to come. I hope my laziness and my schedule won't stop me from doing so. See you!

PS: It's past 3AM... have to catch some ZzzzzzZZzzzz
