A Colorful Lady (watercolor art)

in Sketchbook3 years ago

I've got the chance to draw again tonight. My last class student was absent and closed the class early, so I was able to end work 30 minutes earlier than usual. :) Because of this, I was able to have more time... that's why, I decided to draw something while watching anime with my mama. She wasn't very busy tonight either, so we could have our anime night. :) This artwork is very random, so please bear with it. :)

I actually had no idea on what to draw, so I just decided to make some random girl and play with colors. I like eccentric characters because I feel that they are truer to themselves. It doesn't matter if people think you're crazy or weird as long as you know who you are and accept yourself fully. I believe this can make us happy. :)

Anyway, let's start with the process. :)

Using my thin watercolor pad, I just drew some borders and started sketching an anime-style lady. She had this big eyes, cute nose and lips as well as a shoulder-length hair. :)

Using some random and contrasting colors, I colored the lady. I used unusual color combinations and just enjoyed coloring her using some watercolor pencils. :) Once she's done, I used some brush and water to blend in the colors. :)

While blending in the colors, I made a mistake in the eye part and it was difficult to adjust since the paper was too thin and it's starting to make a hole, so what I did was use the black watercolor pencil to emphasize the eyes and lashes. I also tried making some highlights or details using black. haha

Once the artwork is done, I wrote my username and signature on it.

It was actually fun and I somehow like how she looked like, however, I think the colors were too thin... Next time, I'll try to color it thicker before blending with water. I can try overlapping it with watercolor pencil, but the paper is too thin, so I decided not to. :) Still, I'm glad with the result.

Perhaps I'll create a similar artwork using watercolor tubes/paint instead of pencils next time when I have more time. :) For now, I'd settle with this. ^^

Thanks for checking this artwork out... Let's have fun creating art! :) See you around!
