Guy Gardner as a Red Lantern, McFarlane Toys
This is the new action figure from McFarlane Toys, and it is an amazing release.
Historically, this collector has never liked Guy Gardner. Gardner is originally a Green Lantern and has gone through many changes in name and costume through the decades, and has even worn a yellow lantern ring.
None of his iterations endeared this comic book reader and collector to the character. That is... until he became of a red lantern ring, the personification of rage.
Only as a red lantern can Gardner really be himself, as being a green lantern really does not suit his personality.
McFarlane Toys has chosen a very good version of Gardner in his time as a red lantern.
He has two alternate face plates which conveniently attach to the head sculpt. This one is the rage face with the blood-soaked mouth.
Below is his typical smirking face.
I thought his rage face was going to be the default face for the long term, but it seems this calm face suits the figure better.
This is the head piece without any face plate or hair.
It's strange how the hair can be removed but there isn't any alternate hair. The green lantern Gardner has an extra hair piece. Maybe that can fit in here. Remains to be seen once a copy of the green lantern figure can be acquired.
The red lantern logo is nice. The costume is also good, overall.
