Many years ago, i think i was just 10 and my youger sister was 6 years old. We had finished school for the day and due to the fact we had just relocated to a new and more comfortable house, we still had to go through the stress of travelling back and forth from home to school and vice versa.
This beautiful Tuesday evening, i guess we were rushing back home so we could prepare for church service which was later that evening.
To make our going home fun, my sister and i would trek for some distance just to save a little money we would spend the next day in school. And that day wasn't any different, even though we had church service ahead of us.
We were about entering a tricycle (keke na pepe) and all of a sudden, I saw a blind man begging for arms. My sister nudged me to give him my hard earned money. I mean i just trekked a long distance for it. I already have a list of things i was going to buy tomorrow to accompany the money my parents would also give me for break.
That wasn't an easy decision to make at that time. I had a classmate, he goes by the name Ernest. His mum was into the meatpie business and he always brought it to school hot and I've been eyeing that meatpie but it was expensive as at that time. The money to buy the meatpie was finally complete. I was so sure i would first eat the meatpie in my dreams before i do so in reality.
My 6 year old sister was telling me to give up the money. I could see in the blind man's bag, he had alot of money there, he could buy 10 of those meatpies and still have money left. That wasn't an easy decision to make.
I decided to listen to my Sister. We were going to church soon and Jesus said we should be nice. I wanted to be nice. So i gave him the money and he thanked us.
I won't lie, i was happy i did that though. This joy that i couldn't explain just filled my heart.
My sister and i walked not up to 30 steps from where we were and my Aunty sighted us and when we inturn saw her, we greeted her and she gave us a hug. She was so excited to see us.

"How was school today?" She asked.
"It was great, Aunty" we replied.
She asked where we were headed to, because as of that time she wasn't aware that we had relocated. After exchanging pleasantries, From her bag she brought out five times the money we had given that blind man along the road and handed it to us to assist with our transport.
I was so happy, even more than my sister.
Do you know what that means?
5 meatpies will have to be eliminated because I was loaded. I felt like going back to go drop that money she gave us into the blind man's bag. Who knows maybe an old uncle may sight us too and give us ten times the amount.
But, i didn't do that. I wasn't ready to risk it that way.
This experience revealed to me the good side of karma and it taught me a lesson.
It is good to show kindness to people, even if you think they need it or not.
