Mythra: Credit Card for Gamers Gamified With Lootboxes

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Yes, you read that title correctly. lootboxes have officially reached credit cards. It's not a great credit card when you compare it with the best products in traditional options or cryptocurrency. I don't think this is for the more financially savvy who re well educated regarding credit cards. Mythra is more of a way to bring an untapped market of gamers into the credit card space by doing mainly two things differently.

A Lootbox for Every Swipe

Either the rewards for these loot boxes are going to be so little you are going to want to switch to a 1% cashback card (or similar) or Mythra is going to spend too much because of the decision to gamify every credit card swipe. I'm not huge into having too much RNG in my financial life. There is even a bad incentive to simply make more and more small purchases. If the algorithm takes the amount of swipes per day into account or the value of the transaction, who knows what else Mythra would control.

No Airline Miles - Buy In-Game Currency

Gamer's aren't frequent flyers. They are probably not going to spend much time in fancy hotels. Cashback didn't bring them into the credit card scene so far. Why not simply let them have their rewards in video games, in-game currency and game consoles. Eve the welcome bonus is video game related. The mobile app is obviously a cross between Apple Credit Card's and typical free to play video game.

Did I Mention $0 Annual Fees

I doubt Mythra would even succeed if they came up with an annual price. Gamers who are not into to credit cards are not the kind of demographic that is standing ready to pay fees when there are already a great deal of annual fee cards in the market.

Mythra is for your gamer friend who isn't wiling to take credit cards serious in his/her life.
