Analysis of Splinterlands Being Featured by Ubisoft + Statistics & Market Discussion of Splinterlands Reward Cards That Are About To Go Out of Print

in LeoFinance4 years ago

@cmplxty wished me luck for a Gold Foil Legendary and asked me to report if I got anything great. You can visit https://peakmonsters.com/@vimukthi/explorer to see how it went. It wasn't too bad. I got DEC in place of what could possibly be Epic Cards. So I missed out on two Epic cards as well. But I did start thinking of markets and supply which lead to some quick research.

Few Global Statistics

  • 18.77% of Reward Cards have been burnt for DEC
  • 32.12% of Gold Foil Reward Cards have been burnt for DEC
  • There will be less than 1000 Max Level cards of any rarity
  • It is easier to Level Up cards in the first few levels in Pre-Untamed releases

Don't Forget What Happened to ALPHA!

When new editions are introduced, they are made harder to Level Up and they tend to be less rare. The DEC given for burning cards also goes down. On top of that, there are the extra bonuses when it comes to earning DEC through battles. It has already been mentioned that Beta Cards might get a DEC earning bonus much later in the game after more players come and buy newer editions.

Untamed Cards Are Worth Less In General

This is especially true when it comes to Common and Rare Cards. For comparison, you can check around the market for Alpha, Beta and Promo editions. The effects of supply and demand is a real thing. Older things also have a historical value. If you own some of the oldest Reward Cards, you literally own a piece of blockchain gaming history though your private keys. This is why I don't burn cards and almost never sell them.

Let Those Who Need Quick DEC Burn

Burning will make the cards worth more. We have seen this happen with cards that were originally going for 1 cent or less. Those cards had massive gains unlike what you would see on S&P 500 (Remember that I called DEC a safer investment that buying Apple Inc stock. Times proved me right with 200% - 300% returns depending on how you cashed out)

Unless you need some quick funds, HODL your cards; especially the Gold Foil cards. We are way too early in the game. We are just being noticed by the outside world.

Splinterlands Featured by Ubisoft

Each participant was selected based on their potential to transform these areas, and this season’s lineup includes: Atlantide (France); Sky Mavis / Axie Infinity (Vietnam); Caregame (France); Immersiv.Io (France); Planetarium (South Korea); Sorare (France); Splinterlands (US); and Xaya (UK).Emmeline Biscay, Ubisoft’s Chief Data Officer and sponsor for season five, will provide direct support and advice to each business. “This selection shows that, more than ever, Ubisoft is committed to creating the most engaging, creative, fun and bonding entertainment experiences for tomorrow,” says Biscay. “We are convinced that by joining forces with talented entrepreneurs, we can only enrich each other and accelerate our common efforts for gamers.”

I don't know much about the broader implications of being included in the Ubisoft Entrepreneurs Labs. But there are few things we can be sure of.

  • Multi billion dollar companies are looking into blockchain gaming
  • Splinterlands is in their radar
  • Splinterlands is the #1 blockchain game
  • Others (including above mention multi billion dollar corporations) may want to copy some/most of what we have done here
  • Collectable Card Games are not budget intensive (unlike Shooters, RPG, Sports etc.)
  • Popularity of HIVE will be correlated with Splinterlands popularity

Re-Read The Last Two Points

Blizzard has already proven that a CCG can have over 100 million users while being PC centric. With real money involved and Tournaments, Markets and Rental systems already in place, Splinterlands and blockchain gaming in general can easily attract a great deal of interest. People will just have to step out of their comfort zones and what they are already familiar with. Epic Games easily overtook PUBG because the developers were not fixing the bugs or improving the quality of the game. When Apex Legends came from the Titanfall developers Fortnite still managed fine because they had resources.

A CCG cannot be brute forced into existence without reducing the quality of the overall game. What mainstream video game developers can do is put their resources into marketing their product. This is still a threat, but a manageable one. HIVE is a community and @steemmonsters has 791,981.449 HP and @splinterlands has 1,042.031 HP. No competitor is going to get the same level of promotion within the blockchain.

If blockchain collectible games do become mainstream, it will be impossible for HIVE to not be a part of the conversation. The users will have an account on HIVE and they might as well earn a few dollars while they are here. There is a excellent feedback loop setup with the success of HIVE and Splinterlands. We also have @aggroed @yabapmatt as high ranking witnesses (consider giving them a witness vote)

3 Cards About To Go Out Of Print

  • Naga Windmaster - 97.17% printed
  • Furious Chicken - 96.42% printed
  • Beetle Queen - 96.39% printed

3 Legendary Cards Closest To Run Out Of Print

  • Spirit Miner - 78.93% printed
  • The Kraken - 72.15% printed
  • Zalran Efreet - 71.50% printed

Practicing What I Preach

Casual Players; Serious Investors

This is the motto of my Guild; Roaring Twenties. We should not be simply playing around in a serious economy. We should be ready for a time where what is abundant today is scarce tomorrow. I have 2 more Legendary cards at Level 2 and I might take a look at that Zalran Efreet as well. I'm mostly satisfied with other cards about to go out of point. But I'm letting you know so you can make your call. Now give this article a good share as well. Maybe you could even show it to enlighten your off chain friends.

Some excellent insights here. The Ubisoft news is exciting; used well, that's a heap of new eyeballs on the game, and a big stamp of approval for the industry in general; as well as Splinterlands specifically.

What we really need now is an app on PlayStore. That will be an easy way to double the DAUs in a short time.

Hmm. I am in fix with so many thing.
Concentrating on HP and some tribes.
But I am not buying/selling my cards, and rewards card is just get added in my collection.

Maybe 2021 will be the year for Beta and let see I am able to get some max beta summoners before it.

Maybe 2021 will be the year for Beta

I have the same feeling. Beta will get some bonus perks after the next set of cards get announced. Untamed is likely to be sold out within the year.

Nice post, here is a !BEER for u ;-)

Thank you!

Bought myself few of those Boogeyman. Turns out they are #5 in the list of about to be out of print. Got a Zalran Efreet Gold Foil 😄 from season rewards. I'd probably just trade or delegate that.

Damn that’s awesome congrats! I would love one of those, that’s an underrated card!

Thanks! I even got a Spirit Miner (regular) out of daily quest. It's been a good day. Wish you luck in your gameplay 😆

Ah that's awesome, lucky! I've been getting junk rewards from quests but I had some really awesome luck with opening packs so it evens out. Hoping the bad luck with quests means that my next pack opening will be amazing! One can hope hehe

I was very encouraged by that Ubisoft announcement, that's great marketing.

I'm not convinced the list prices of Alphas are their real value - No one wants my Gold Foil Alpha Flesh Golem - it's been up there for a month, unsold.

And a lot of the alphas are creeping in value towards the Betas.

I think most people want playable cards. There's a very limited old-school market for those Alphas.

My plan is to sell the common ones I've but to hold onto any rares or epics and golds.

I've been buying up those reward cards myself, you got a good price on that Kraken!

Also Orbs - there's not that long until they've all sold out!

There isn't much liquidity in the markets. Even with all the STEEM-Engine and HIVE-Engine trades combined, I don't think we have 20K USD volume per day.

Also Orbs - there's not that long until they've all sold out!

I have been opening a few of them every week. The Untamed airdrop chances have me more focused on buying them.

True about the volumes.

The Orbs don't count towards the airdrops, only the Betas.

You may as well buy the later with an alt account, aim for that second set of 400 to guarantee another legendary!
